Amazing "repair" from Network Rail. Presumably the gutter above this pair of structural beams leaks. Rather than repair it properly, they've added a sheet metal tray underneath, ensuring the beams stay permanently damp.

Another Southern Railway rebuild (well extension) for @BeautyOfTranspt . There don't seem to be many photos of it. Demolished about 30 years ago and the facade restored to its 1849 appearance.
