Takashi Yamazaki talks about generative AI companies in a Japanese government & film industry meeting: “Steadily shutting down companies like OpenAI is the right course of action. But the problem is that there are just too many of them, so it’s practically impossible to eliminate them all.” (source: cas.go.jp/jp/seisakukaigi/ti…)

The only acceptable amount of rat shit in food is zero. "Look at all the extra steps I did. Rat shit, if used properly, can speed up the cooking process immensely! People not using rat shit simply have no idea how to use it the right way!" Nothing done on top undoes the shit.

As someone who has personally championed Blender since version 2.59 (over 15k hours into it), I have watched its game engine equivalent grow into something really spectacular lately. I'm going to see what all the buzz is about! ALL HAIL OPEN SOURCE....ALL HAIL OPEN SOURCE

It would be fun if this was Tim's secret saucy plan to get back at PC gamers and the industry in general. He was so sure PC gaming was dead in 2008, shit talks it through the years, then tries to have a say on what's good for it.
If I'm reading this right Tim Sweeney somehow thinks the current state of unsustainable and very lengthy Triple A game development will suddenly become more sustainable and less lengthy by using INSANELY unsustainable AI in conjunction. AI's just gonna make the problem worse.

Don't let billionaires convince you slop is the future. They're used to managing & directing, not making things themselves. Of course they can't see the difference. They don't understand your love for the craft. Keep making personal, beautiful games. You've got my support 💖

Tim is intentionally ignoring the fact that GenAi models are built off the largest theft of labor/creative works in history. This golden era he claims is not only slop, it’s built off theft.
The games we've long wanted, which didn't exist because they'd cost several times more to make than they'd earn back, will soon become possible. As will the games developers wanted to build, but couldn't with the resources available. It'll be a new golden age of gaming.

There are more artifacts from a process than just a final product, including the effect of the process on the creator. This is even observable within the product itself.

I spent a year and a half making this. Taught myself Blender to do it. At no point did I consider using gen AI to speed up my workflow. Because the end product is not the point. Art is about the process. I learned a lot. Time well spent
I made an animated horror short! It's called Monitor. I did everything myself (except the awesome music and sound). No AI. Hope you enjoy!

A true sign of poor leadership is inconsistent values and vision. You can go back and watch clips of interviews with Gabe Newell, 10, 20+ years ago, and the core beliefs he founded Valve on still define the company and Steam as a platform even today.

every time a software tool adds an AI feature nobody asked for, a human logs off
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

Zero is the only acceptable number of injuries, dear @EU_Commission Hold these thieves accountable, ffs.
So under Anthropic's bill, Anthropic can kill 49 people and steal up to a billion dollars before anyone can legally stop them

re: the bsky drama as a user from the start, watching the admins who run it go from cool, chill, approachable folks to sociopathic AI techbros, watching them succumb to AI psychosis in real time, has been really sad and frustrating. Like it's really bad they think it has feelings

This can't possibly be legal. How can Facebook just grant itself the "right" to what's hosted on a third party website simply because a link exists from their platform to the third party website?
%$&*!!! whoa. This reads that Meta is looking to grant itself the rights to scrape websites across the open web - and train Meta's AI - once a company uses Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or other Meta services after October 30, 2026. So every biz. Read that again. Outrageous. 1/5
