Around 2008 while I was still jumping with SOCOM parachute demonstration team we were doing training with some civillians at Zhills. We just left the stack and were tracking away when one of my teammates was hit from a guy that didn’t create enough space. Knocked her unconscious. Fortunately her AAD pulled her chute but she landed in a fence and messed her neck up pretty good.
A few months later my girlfriend was jumping in a similar stack the day after Christmas. I wasn’t jumping that day but she got into a similar situation. As she was tracking away she pulled. Simultaneously a guy slammed into her. Killed her instantly. Hit her so hard her shoes came off her feet. She died. He broke his wrist.
Every Uber I have ever ride in was driven by an immigrant. If they start losing their jobs at scale I wonder how that will be received by them.
