Indeed it is one of the biggest economic externalities in existence. Little of this $9 trillion is flowing back through the OS ecosystem. We at @gov4git believe the root cause is hiding in plain sight: OS communities have no model or tools for governance.

Luiz Barroso's Essays on Engineering Culture are on spot for technical project management. I encountered some of this wisdom in university CS Systems departments back in 2000.

This is a personal and thoughtful interview with @jeffbezos. Listening to Jeff’s carefully meditated vision for humanity’s expansion, I couldn’t help think: Humanity cannot expand without a scalable governance system. This is why I find our mission at @gov4git to be so profound.
Here's my conversation with @jeffbezos, founder of Amazon and Blue Origin. This is his first time doing a long-form conversation of this kind, and it was an epic one.
It's here on X in full & is up on YouTube, Spotify, and everywhere else.

This is why we at @gov4git believe that AI models (any open source software in general) should be voluntarily accompanied by verifiable governance records that demonstrate (and prove) it has been developed under democratic/plural practices every step (commit) of the way.

Made some small tweaks to my collection. There are 3 projects in particular I want to highlight bc I think they're woefully underfunded relative to their impact.

Many gitcoin projects crumble under scrutiny; these ones don't.

Open source governance committees that can't make a decision are so painful to deal with. All too often they rely on perfect consensus, allowing any controversy to halt progress.
Making hard decisions is the job - if you can only make easy ones you're failing.

At NixCon, I implored the Nix team to choose if they want flakes to be stable or not. I'm disappointed to see this happen without the team choosing one way or another.
