Our research team identified a second downloader variant linked to the WebSockets backdoor campaign recently analyzed by @dmpdump. While the original downloader was written in native C++, this new variant uses C# (.NET 8). Same seven payload files, same NVIDIA-themed disguise, but a very different implementation: no obfuscation, plaintext strings, and extensive retry logic designed to handle hours of unreliable connectivity. An interesting detail: it ships as a 14 MB self-contained .NET single-file executable. Open it in IDA and you'll mainly see the native .NET runtime host rather than the actual downloader logic. We've developed three new YARA detection rules covering both downloader variants and the WebSockets backdoor, and added them to our THOR scanners. You can explore the rules' matches on VirusTotal through our Valhalla pages: valhalla.nextron-systems.com… valhalla.nextron-systems.com… valhalla.nextron-systems.com… Full technical analysis, decompiled source and IOCs: github.com/NextronSystems/io…

I'm not saying there's the equivalent of a modern-day Stuxnet on that drive, but I would exercise extreme caution to access it, such as an air-gapped, disposable device without a common architecture or OS. Data on it could be photographed on screen + photos of it shared that way.
21 days before elex day, DOJ sent LA county a thumb drive it said containing information about non-citizens allegedly on the county's voter rolls. County says DOJ provided no information about methodology and it is not going to touch the drive because it does not consider secure

Appreciate @jstrosch for the invite on the podcast! macOS malware is at an interesting place. Also, getting to talk about how reverse engineering workflows are changing with AI was fun/therapeutic. I wasn’t crying I promise. 😂
New episode of Behind the Binary is live! 🎙️Joined by @L0Psec to break down macOS security, ClickFix social engineering, InfoStealers (AMOS/MacSync), DPRK developer targeting, and the evolution of obfuscation. Danfoss refrigeration incidents: We are sharing exposed instances for a long time in our Device ID reporting, daily. For Danfoss AK-SM800A we still see at least 365 unique instances daily (drop from over 550 last few days) exposed. These need to be taken off the public Internet!

Group-IB researchers analyzed #KGBRAT, a Windows Remote Access Trojan (RAT) sold as Malware-as-a-Service (#MaaS). Its capabilities combine keylogging, credential theft, hidden desktop access through HVNC, and ransomware functionality in a configurable builder. Our analysis also identified evidence of multiple operators using a common builder, with different configurations and infrastructure. #MalwareAnalysis
