It has been asked of me whether I see systemic racism in Canada and I do.
This will be a thread, "I see it..."

Repealing DRIPA in BC does not end:
-Aboriginal land title claims
-Treaty negotiations
-hunting and fishing rights
These are Section 35 Canada rights, that can’t be ended in the BC legislature

The Indigenous Vote.
#TurnsOutTheyNeedUsAfterAll
If the Alberta Separatist Question proved anything at all, it isn’t just how wrong/delusional white entitlement is…that’s already known.
It’s that we now have real world data on what The Indigenous Vote can actually do.
Parties/politicians can no longer dismiss us. #represent
The end times being their place in government and governance.
They face being out of a job but conflate it to Armageddon level catastrophe if they aren’t allowed to stay in “power”.

As this story goes viral, it's my responsibility as a residential school historian and expert on denialism to point out: the evidence about large numbers of child death and unmarked burials at residential school is already freely, publicly available: nctr.ca/wp-content/uploads/2…

1996.
It's not ancient history - that's the year the last residential school closed in Canada.
September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - we hope you'll take a moment to read about the history and legacy of residential schools. humanrights.ca/story/canadas…
The only irrelevant thing is jonnyboy here.
He knows that there is more than one “school” and pretty much all 130 of them had gravesites.
He tries to tie arsons of churches where records were kept to reconciliation but c’mon.
Records are evidence. Destroyed in a fire…
The Memorial Cloth is a 60-metre commemoration the honours the names of thousands of children that died as a result of residential schools in Canada.
It is displayed each year as part of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event on Parliament Hill.
It is a day to remember the Children who never made it home so…
[a moment of silence…]
It isn’t a day to give light to the shall we say, less than enlightened who would rather sow discord, spew white saviour rhetoric or just plain be racist.
That’s their truth to reconcile.

No coroner report, no autopsy, no RCMP contacted, no church records on cause of death, no government investigations
No bodies sent home
Just a death certificate, or in some cases nothing at all if the child went missing

The act of hate and violence shown by white nationalist residential school denialists demonstrating on the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc First Nation is abhorrent, dangerous and unacceptable.
This demonstration is a part of the escalating and harrowing attacks from residential school denialists, seeking attention and monetization from the promotion of hate.
I join the @AFN_Updates calls for a full investigation, and for governments to take urgent action to respond to residential school denialism with the urgency and seriousness needed to protect the safety and dignity of survivors.
The House of Commons unanimously recognized the Indian Residential School System as a genocide in 2022. Governments and leaders must respond to these attacks as what they are - the violent denial of genocide that poses a grave threat to the safety of survivors, families, communities and our nations.
Survivors have asked governments to protect their safety and their stories from residential school denialists, which is why I put forward Bill C-254 to add residential school denialism to the Criminal Code as an incitement of hate. This issue is non-partisan. That is why I have offered the Liberals my bill to take on as a government bill and criminalize residential school denialism once and for all. It is incumbent on the Liberal government to ensure the safety of survivors
Survivors deserve more than our words of condemnation. We owe them real action and real protection.
To Tk’emlups te Secwepemc First Nation, my heart goes out to you after this terrifying attack. I am holding all survivors of residential schools, their families and communities in my heart. I stand by you and uplift you.
