NEW: Mass politics elected Zohran Mamdani. Institutions are governing with him.
The fight over Jessica Tisch is teaching his movement a hard lesson: electing a mayor, and moving one, are different kinds of power.

We've officially entered the era of the B+ employee: the one who shows up every day, delivers, is easy to work with, but refuses to be the hero.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.
This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.
Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.
Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.
Abolish ICE.

Can you imagine taking care of sick people all day, but not having health insurance for yourself?
Solidarity with nurses at Brooklyn Hospital who have been without health insurance for 6 weeks. They have had to delay critical care and procedures.
The hospital needs $ from NYS.
More than 400 nurses at @official_tbhc have gone 6 weeks without health insurance after the hospital stopped paying into their benefits fund. Nurses still show up every day to care for patients. It's time for management to restore nurses’ healthcare now! thecity.nyc/2026/03/13/brook…

There was a cohort of local broadcast anchors in the NYC media market in the 80s and 90s that felt larger than life. Ernie Anastos (RIP), Sue Simmons, Chuck Scarborough, Warner Wolf, Len Berman, Kaity Tong, Roz Abrams, Diana Williams, Dana Tyler, John Roland, Bill Beutel….If you grew up watching local news in the 80s and 90s, these were giants. They were the Cronkite’s of our local broadcast TV world and there won’t ever be a crew like them that holds our attention and feel as intimate a part of our lives as they once did.
