FIRST. EVER. SERVAL. COMMERCIAL. 🙌 Our CTO Alex McLeod is car shopping. Billy, a used car salesman, has a green jalopy on the lot… but it’s “reliable” once you learn the system. Up close, it’s a different story. The AI assistant is bolted on. The security system needs resetting. Lane changes require planning. Some things only work if you do them in the right order. Billy’s best selling point: “Everyone buys from us. You have to.” Fortunately, our CEO @jakeserval arrives in his purple corvette before Alex signs anything. 🍿🍿🍿 Learn more about the story behind the commercial: serval.com/blog/service-then…

ServiceNow’s CTO says AI means hiring fewer entry-level people, but had no answer when @FoxBusiness asked where its future engineers will come from. The segment then turned to @getserval. We’re accelerating our early-career hiring, including for a role that didn’t exist two years ago: the Automation Engineer. Many of these hires will come straight out of college. The next generation of technical leaders is entering the workforce now. We’re hiring a lot of them. Learn more: serval.com/blog/the-rise-of-…

ServiceNow told @FoxBusiness they're hiring fewer entry-level roles due to AI Which is so weird Because Serval now is hiring more Automation Engineers than ever to serve our customers, most of which are entry level Much to think about

The highest-leverage thing I’ve done as a founding engineer at Serval is focus on talent.  I realized early on that if I wanted to double my impact, working twice as much was impossible (not enough hours in the day) and becoming twice as good of an engineer was really really hard. But if I could help bring in five great engineers, I’d multiply what we could build and in a much more scalable way. Especially if I then helped those five great engineers bring in their own great networks! We’ve grown from about 20 people to 160 in this last year, and more than 40% of our hires came through referrals. In engineering, that number is even higher. The traditional playbook says build a huge top of funnel through agencies, then filter down stage by stage. But that's not what the greatest organizations in the world with the absolute highest bars for talent do. The 49ers won't hold open tryouts to find their starting quarterback. They'll identify the best free agents in the market and go focus on winning them over. We do the same. Referrals give us the strongest signal we can get. The best interview loop gives us maybe eight hours with a candidate. A referrer has often worked alongside that person for years. We offer huge referral bonuses and we then work to empower our employees to earn them. We've built internal tools like Spot, which analyzes everyone's network against every job description we have open to make suggestions to our employees on who to reach out to. We have fun tools like Orbits which maps each person's referral network like a social system, helps visualize your dynasty, and doubles as a leaderboard. We also host events where employees can bring their networks to get to know the team at Serval over a fully covered game of poker or a cold plunge. Thanks to Netta Jenkins and Inc. Magazine for telling the story: lnkd.in/g3aVeVKg We’re still hiring. If you’re an exceptional engineer (or an exceptional anything), my DMs are open!

We started Serval by automating individual requests, like software access or a password reset. But the work that weighs most on IT and HR spans multiple systems and teams, and often runs for days or weeks. A single new hire or role change can trigger dozens of tasks across countless systems. Journeys automates all of them in one flow, with every step owned and logged. Customers with 1,000 to 150,000 employees already use it for onboarding. Every company runs countless multi-step processes like these. We’re taking that tedious work out of everyone’s day.
Introducing... JOURNEYS. Every hire, departure, or role change creates dozens of HR and IT tasks. Journeys automates them into one flow, with every step owned and logged. Start building employee journeys in days, not months. serval.com/blog/journeys-gen…

Excited for this one. Onboarding, offboarding, job changes, and other long lived employee journeys are some of the most painful experiences for workers AND the HR and IT teams that need to manage these complex flows. Not anymore. It’s Serval now.

In another life, our CEO could have been a TV zoologist. Thankfully, he decided to stick with software. @sequoia's new profile of @jakeserval traces his path from his first startup failing to find PMF to Serval today: the enterprise platform Fortune 500 companies use to automate critical workflows across IT, HR, Finance, and beyond. Read the full story: sequoiacap.com/article/acces…
Dilbert turned the IT guy into a punchline in the ‘90s: the ticket-taker, the form-filler, the human password reset. Over three decades later, the stereotype hasn’t changed. @jakeserval would like to put an end to that. He knows something about long bets. He spent years on a neuroscience startup that never found its market, and the day the last acquihire fell through he sat with his head in his hands for an hour. Then he got back to work. Today his company @getserval is reimagining IT for the AI era. Agents handle the ticket queue so IT pros can go build things. We're proud to tell Jake and the Serval team's story in our new profile. The african wildcat’s out of the bag. I’ve joined @getserval as Head of Social Media to build their social and creative marketing muscle from 0-1. At @tryramp, our IT team became automation engineers by building Serval automations across 10 teams that now auto-resolve 50% of tickets like magic. This product is transforming enterprise and the people behind it are killers. So grateful to @jakeserval, Alana, Alex, Tatiana, and the rest of the team for welcoming me aboard. No time to waste. WE ARE HIRING IN NYC AND SF serval.com/careers I’m personally on the hunt for: - social media lead - influencer lead - founding brand designer - brand engineers - serval cat conservationist Spread the word. My DMs are open.

Everyone is talking about the jobs AI will take. We’re more interested in the one it’s creating. Our CEO @jakeserval believes a new AI-native role is emerging: the Automation Engineer. Automation Engineers work with teams to understand how work actually gets done. They decide what to automate, then use the latest tools to build it into the business. We’re hiring Automation Engineers at Serval too: serval.com/careers

Meet Catalyst, our AI agent for enterprise automation. Give it ticket histories, SOPs, or a plain-language instruction. Catalyst builds secure, production-ready automations. Its background agents also run continuously to find problems and suggest fixes before anyone files a ticket. It’s Serval now.

Soft Serval came to NYC… and serve we did 🍦 First stop: ServiceNow World Forum, where our purple truck handed out free soft serve outside the Javits Center to anyone who needed a break from the show floor. Then we hit the road, bringing ice cream to our customers at Clay, Bilt, Arch, and several others. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, grabbed a cup or cone, and helped make Soft Serval’s two-day NYC tour one to remember! Ride along with Soft Serval 🎥👇

When you automate tedious work, you can get back to meaningful work.
I was on @CNBC Squawk Box with one of our customers, @JackGretz, the CEO of @SeatGeek to talk about how they used Serval to eliminate the ticket backlog and redeploy their engineers as embedded business partners. ⚡ 50% of IT requests automated in first 60 days ⚡ 132 automations built in 8 weeks ⚡ Zero layoffs. Hiring this year already ahead of all of last year ⚡ IT time redeployed to solve harder problems When you automate the low-hanging tasks, the support requests and the password resets, you can take the most technical people in your organization and deploy them into work that's more productive than what they were doing before. Full clip below. 👇 @getserval

Serval’s next great seller might not be in sales yet 🔭🐯 We’re joining our investor @firstround as a hiring partner for its inaugural Sales Combine, a free two-day program for people ready to break into tech sales. Participants get in-person training in San Francisco. Graduates will be introduced to hiring companies across First Round’s portfolio, including... yours truly 👀 Big thanks to @btrenchard and the First Round team for putting this together. Excited to meet the inaugural class (and possibly some future Servals??). Applications close October 3. Apply here → firstround.com/sales-combine
