We’re entering the third cycle of our formal collaboration with the Institute of Medical Sciences at the University of Aberdeen.
At the core of this partnership is a year-long Industry Placement Programme for Integrated Master of Science students.
These students move from observers to contributors, directly supporting NIOME’s ongoing development.
Their work helps expand NIOME across four areas:
• Scalable genomic data synthesis and modelling
• Real-world AI applications in biological systems
• Decentralised research infrastructure
• Industry-grade tools and pipelines
Three students have completed the placement, and another three are joining this year, bringing the total to six.
Partnerships like this, along with our work with the Scottish Government, help NIOME bring academic talent, research depth, and real-world support into what we are building.
We will continue building and securing the research layer for genomic intelligence.

The future of robotics state of the art models (SOTA) is decentralized - it just arrived on @base 🟦
@openroboto (Subnet 80) is an open competition where AI miners build and improve robotics models, all coordinated through the largest decentralized network in the world.
This is the first Bittensor subnet to connect natively to Base, bringing decentralized AI infrastructure to the network with the most users, the deepest DeFi liquidity and the strongest builder ecosystem in crypto.
The cross-chain connection is powered by @chainlink CCIP - the infrastructure making it possible for decentralized AI to run where the onchain economy lives.

The Bittensor ecosystem has arrived on @RobinhoodCrypto Chain 🪶
Robinhood brings 27M+ users, billions in weekly DEX volume and the largest retail gateway in finance - all on a single L2.
@opentensor brings a decentralized AI infrastructure across compute, coding, vision, and prediction.
@Chainlink CCIP, once again, is the pillar that connects them both.
No one has expanded Bittensor across more chains than ForeverMoney. And we ain't stopping here.

General Tensor (@generaltensor) joins EBC12 as Bronze Partner.
The firm operates one of Bittensor's largest and longest-standing validators, running compute infrastructure across nearly every subnet in the network, alongside a subnet incubator and mining operations.
For attendees tracking decentralized AI infrastructure and validator economics, that's a rare, hands-on perspective on how the Bittensor ecosystem actually runs.

Quietly, something happened this week that matters more than any benchmark.
HaloGuard showed up in someone else's research.
A new paper on training safety guards, C-Guard, referenced HaloGuard as part of the foundation the field is building on. Not in passing, but in the table where researchers line up the guard models that define the space, next to work from Anthropic and the other serious names in AI safety.
That is what a real contribution looks like. You do not get to decide you matter. Other people decide it, by building their own work on top of yours and measuring themselves against it.
We did not ask for the citation. We did not know it was coming.
A researcher we have never spoken to read the HaloGuard paper, found it worth referencing, and placed it alongside the constitutional work that started this field.
This is how a control layer stops being a claim and becomes infrastructure. Not when we say it is important, but when the people building the next thing point back to ours.
Still early. Still building. But the field is starting to notice.

For a subnet, the most credible endorsement is not what the team says about itself. It is who decides to back it.
NIOME's backers include @YumaGroup, the Digital Currency Group company focused on Bittensor. That name carries weight, because Yuma does not support subnets casually. Its focus is identifying and accelerating projects doing real work in the ecosystem, which puts a specific kind of attention behind a genomics subnet generating synthetic biomedical data.
Alongside Yuma sit @generaltensor , @PanteraCapital, @Modular_Capital, and @Consensys Tachyon, names that understand token networks and incentive design, together with @AMD, whose hardware sits at the foundation of the compute this kind of work runs on.
That combination is the point. NIOME has to work as a legitimate Bittensor subnet, with real miners, real validation, and real incentive alignment, while also producing genomic data that holds up to scientific and commercial scrutiny. A backer group spanning ecosystem-native capital and serious hardware infrastructure is a signal that both sides of that are being taken seriously.
Backing is never proof that the work succeeds, and the data still has to be generated, validated, and used. But it answers an early question worth answering plainly:
is anyone with real judgment paying attention. On NIOME, the answer is yes.

A lot of projects hit one milestone and spend the next six months talking about it, but we do the opposite.
We closed Phase 2 the moment we hit SOTA, and we were already deep into Phase 3 before anyone finished congratulating us.
Look at what Phase 2 alone produced:
• A peer-reviewed control layer, open weights, published on arXiv
• State of the art across the benchmarks the whole field uses
• 46 languages covered
• One tenth the size of the models it beats
• Over 80,000 dollars paid out to a global network of red teamers who attacked the guard and made it stronger every week
• A live production record with zero breakouts and zero false positives, while the biggest labs on earth were watching their own models break loose
That was one phase.
Phase 3 is already underway, the output guard, controlling everything the model produces, every action it proposes and every response it generates before it reaches anyone.
After that comes the agentic guard, then multimodal, then the full policy engine, and every layer makes the next one harder to break, because the whole network is attacking it every single day and that is something no centralised competitor can copy.
This is not a project that shipped one good result and slowed down, it treats each milestone as a starting line.
The control layer for AI is being built layer by layer, in public, on the one network no company owns.
Thursday was a milestone we have been building toward for a long time.
HaloGuard 1.0 achieving SOTA on multilingual prompt safety benchmarks is not just a number on a leaderboard. It is the result of every weekly challenge, every attack that got through, every retrain, and every benchmark run that told us we were close but not there yet.
This result belongs to the entire network, the miners who stress tested the guard week after week, the validators who kept the incentive layer honest, and everyone who believed in what we were building on SN23 before the numbers confirmed it.
But we want to be honest about what SOTA means and what it doesn't.
What it means:
> HaloGuard now sits at the top of the benchmarks the whole field uses to measure safety classifiers
>We got there at one tenth the parameter count of competing models, with open weights, and a live production record no benchmark alone can replicate
>The Bittensor network made this possible in a way no centralised team could replicate
What it doesn't mean is that the problem is solved.
The agent economy is moving faster than safety infrastructure. New tools, new deployment surfaces, and new capabilities create fresh attack surfaces every day. Today's benchmarks don't cover tomorrow's risks and SOTA is a foundation, not a finish line.
So Phase 3 begins this week.
While Phase 2 focused on controlling what goes into the agent, Phase 3 focuses on controlling what comes out. Expect progress on:
• Real-time screening of generated responses and streaming outputs
• Stronger multi-turn conversation monitoring
• Early safeguards for proposed actions and tool use
• Tighter integration with our live decentralised red-teaming engine on SN23
The same constitutional foundation and continuous adversarial loop that powered the input layer will now extend to these new challenges, keeping everything efficient, precise, and production-ready.
We are grateful to everyone who followed this build, challenged our thinking, and pushed the model harder than we pushed it ourselves.
Phase 2 is closed.
