This was a cool listen. I think Cloud+AI is increasingly making the @levelsio -style model of a scrappy solo serial micro-entrepreneur viable, allowing one person to spin up and run a number of companies that generate income, possibly well into billion-dollar valuations.
Here's my conversation with Pieter Levels (@levelsio), self-taught developer and entrepreneur who designed, programmed, shipped, and ran over 40 startups, many of which are hugely successful. In most cases, he did it all by himself, while living the digital nomad life in over 40 countries and over 150 cities. This was a fun and inspiring conversation!

I've been quite torn on this recently. I mentioned in a recent talk that I wished for tech to look like "a thriving coral reef" ecosystem but sometimes it feels more like mostly plankton, a few clown fish, two tunas, and 5 killer whales circling above.

1. Musk is on a path to confrontation with Western governments, which he may not survive.
2. Bitcoin is a national security threat and should be heavily taxed annually, payable in dollars.
3. Push people to register to vote, especially in urban areas and heavy suburban areas.
4. Tell those same people about Project 2025, and what it means for reproductive health and the dollar.
5. UK destabilization may be a harbinger of US destabilization and we should do what we can to block such contagion.
6. Every day the US fails to curb Musk, the more people lose faith in our institutions. This is demoralizing.
7. Americans have a parochial understanding of inflation, which isn’t caused by presidential policies but by global macroeconomic conditions. Dems should push this message.
8. The belief that scale in AI solves all problems betrays a kind of death of expertise, and replaces hard problems with articles of faith.
9. Sam Altman is a con man and it’s no wonder two cofounders and the head of product just left.
The best way to defeat Trump is to create the perception that victory is impossible. Create battlefield conditions that preclude victory by the opponent by demoralizing them and systematically blocking upside, wherever possible. Mind war. Onward!

This story blew up—almost overwhelmingly so. Wrote about why outrage goes beyond “it’s bad when profiteering execs fire ppl to cut costs” and into something more: AI co’s are trying to automate the arts—the human things that make human life worth living.

AI is already killing jobs in video games. My investigation for @Wired reveals that major studios are already using AI for concept art and asset generation, foisting AI trainings on games workers and that AI is playing a role in the mass layoffs that have roiled the field.
