Stu A takes the test and scores a 73%. Stu B takes the test and scores a 58%. Student B gets another shot to study and wow! score improves to an 88%. Yay, Student B! Except that Student A doesn’t get that same chance because they scored a passing grade. No way, not in my class.

My grading policy: remove all barriers to students earning the grade they want.
When I say, “I don’t give you a grade, you earn it.” I mean it.

When spending money on programs, curriculum, professional development, or technology consider these questions:
1. Why is this needed?
2. How will it improve learning?
3. What criteria will be used to determine it was a wise investment or to continue funding?
