Question for the OSR and beyond, does any game do high level domain play well? If so, what do you like about it?

Spells are living demons. Everybody knows that. But you know how vampires have to count grains of rice that you drop? Spells have to read. That's why you trap them in books. The writing on parchment is a labyrinth the spells are walking, trapped, until you're ready for them.

Drawing hands can be difficult, even for seasoned artists. Nicodemus had the best hands in all my films, they had a personality of their own. Let’s see your hand studies. - Don

Hey, game designers and players! What are your thoughts on a game's vibes and how you approach it? How do you choose a game that resonates with you, or that you expect to have a good time with? Digital, tabletop, whatever! Wanna talk about it? Let me know. I'm recording stuff.

5e 2024's new character sheet shows a significant movement away from the Character Sheet as a tool for the player to engage with and toward the character sheet as a reference document for the player to "activate" when called upon. waxwings.com.au/ludosophy/di…

So here's a story of, by far, the weirdest bug I've encountered in my CS career. Along with @maciejwolczyk we've been training a neural network that learns how to play NetHack, an old roguelike game, that looks like in the screenshot. Recenlty, something unexpected happened.

Mecha TTRPG friends -- is there a mech TTRPG about a crew that all inhabit a single mech? Not in a Voltron way or a pit crew way, but like more a starship crew way. I'm not very familiar with the genre (so other RPG recommendations in the genre are welcome as well) so help plz!

I reference landmarks, not hex directions. If there are no landmarks, and PCs are not following a path, I determine randomly. Ref easy mode is to ensure there is a notable landmark in each hex.

Without a doubt the best example of the "fruitful void" concept in game design is the board game Diplomacy. 3 paragraphs out of 22 pages of rules are actually about diplomacy, and they mostly say "say what you want there are no rules". But it is the beating heart of the game.

September's free 1-page RPG is KAIJU GIRLS, a game in which you are a perfectly normal schoolgirl with perfectly normal worries except that you turn into a giant city-destroying monster when you're stressed out. PDFs and text-only version on my patreon: patreon.com/posts/41897307
