Yday, this is what I told my folks: We have a professional & moral obligation to cover this administration, with energy, rigor & imagination. We are here to record what they do, when, and what the consequences are. That’s our job & our calling. Got a tip? Get in touch:
ProPublica's @eisingerj to his staff: "We face the biggest test of our professional lives. Now we get to see if we really meant it when we said we will hold power to account. Will we do so when our subjects have true power on their side and a willingness to use it? We may be harassed. We may be sued. We may be threatened with violence. We may be ignored. Are we just sunshine journalists or are we ready?" propublica.org/article/secon…

So much media chat is infuriating because it's so clear that many on the left are still asking what legacy media did or didn't do while many people on the right DO NOT GIVE TWO HOOTS - they are on YouTube, TikTok, Rumble etc and it doesn't matter to them how NPR covers anything.
Lots of talk around here about Twitter's influence on the election. Some talk about TikTok. Zero discussion about YouTube. Even though, at a minimum, YouTube is where The Young Men watched all of those podcasts.

Btw, it very much does matter to me. We need good, trustworthy journalism more than ever. But some of it is screaming into the void at the moment.

WaPo's endorsement finally drops.
Big congratulations to our 45th and now 47th President on an extraordinary political comeback and decisive victory. No nation has bigger opportunities. Wishing @realDonaldTrump all success in leading and uniting the America we all love.

This On The Media day after episode is so frustrating. Did they really not even consider that this could happen? Are they not tracking right wing media? I live in another country and don't have a job monitoring this and it was not a surprise to me. wnycstudios.org/podcasts/otm…

Read @RebeccaSolnit and absorb that hope is not a bird in the sky you hope lands near you, it’s an active orientation. You find it in the care for someone else or something else outside of yourself. It’s bigger than you. It’s an act of cultivation. Rub two sticks together.

Whatever the outcome it is still incredibly depressing that so many people voted for Trump despite everything, maybe even because of "everything." Anyway, some much needed notes on how to keep on keeping on from @lksriv ❤️🧡💛💚💙

Buy your kids books for Christmas. Teach them that reading is for pleasure, not to pass a test. Let them pick their own books, let them read what they love, let them see you reading with joy and enthusiasm.

Today’s the day. If you’re still somehow undecided or waffling on your Harris vote, I ask you to take 1:24 and then think about my 106 year old grandmother and the decisions women like her have been making for a century.

I have such wonderful memories of losing myself in books as a kid. Fund libraries!
