I just finished listening to this audiobook. I loved it especially learning about his time as a missionary in Peru. And a few familiar names of Augustinians with ties to Tulsa.
Pope Leo XIV made history as the first American to lead the Catholic Church. But the path that brought him there stretched from Chicago’s South Side to decades of missionary work in Peru and ultimately to the highest ranks of the Vatican. to.pbs.org/4j0Ada9

In Oklahoma’s Bible Belt, the Catholic Church is experiencing remarkable growth in the Diocese of Tulsa, with 681 people entering the Catholic Church last Easter, a 46% increase from the previous year. The diocese, which serves approximately 60,000 Catholics, also has 17 seminarians in formation for the Catholic priesthood.

Good advice for those discerning marriage, priesthood, or religious life. Take the next step. Ask her out. Visit a religious community. Call your vocation director.
Finding your calling in life isn’t always about knowing exactly where you’re going. Sometimes, it’s about being willing to move forward without having all the answers.
You can spend years trying to figure out what you’re meant to do, but clarity often comes through action, reflection, and being open to possibilities you hadn’t considered.
Also priests.
I know we're a huge demographic.
Hey @MLB - wanna get more kids watching baseball?
Maybe start with the commercials.
Watching the playoffs tonight with my kids and here's the rundown:
- Megan Fox selling ED pills in a red bodysuit
- The scariest movie trailer you've ever seen
- Sydney Sweeney in zero clothes promoting betting on sports
Leagues can't figure out why kids don't watch.
You don't need a Nickelodeon game. You're not the Savannah Bananas.
Just show baseball in a way I can leave on in my house.
Excellent advice for the Sacrament of Confession.
I would add, "Arrive at the time Confessions begin (or before) to make sure you get in."
Many times, people come a few minutes before it ends or before Mass begins and are disappointed they didn't get in. Arriving early (if possible) is always best.
Confession ‘is a place to encounter God’s mercy, his forgiveness, and not only that, to receive grace,’ says Dominican Father Thomas Petri.

Ministry win: Today we had a local religious community (the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, MI) lead a mother-daughter retreat at the cathedral. Moms got to spend time together. Girls got to meet awesome Sisters.
I have a parishioner running the NYC marathon. There's a program where friends and family (and priests) can record an encouraging message for the person and after each mile, a new message comes on. It doesn't unlock until you finish the next mile. Very cool. Recording now.
How long should a Confession take? @PetriOP deserves a listen. He says 2 minutes to 2.5 minutes. I agree.
Be bold. Be brief. Be gone.
Prepare well ahead of time and be considerate of the others in line.
On this week's podcast: why confession is not therapy, or spiritual direction. Fr. Thomas Petri, O.P., provides some surprising and refreshing opinions on the subject. Here's a clip--but listen to the whole podcast! @PetriOP
At the doctor with my dad for an appointment. The doctor says, “And if I don’t see you before then, Merry Christmas!”
It’s October 7th. 🎄🎅🏼
