Scientist 1: I really think people need to feel awe for the universe. Scientist 2: Yeah. I mean why do you think so? S1: Why? Space is awesome. People need to experience that. S2: Yeah, Space is awesome but ... um ... Why should we want people to experience that awe? S1: Awe for awe's sake! Wonder! Joy! Isn't that enough. S2: Those are WONDERFUL but WHY is that where we want to put our resources? S1: Well ... I remember I used to go stargazing with my mom growing up and one night I got to see a meteor shower. It was like the skies opened a glitterbox. That feeling really got me into science. S2: Do you think other kinds might have the same experience? S1: Some might. It'll help. S2: So, is your ultimate goal to get more kids to choose as a career and your hypothesis is that experiencing awe will help? S1: Yes! S2: That's AWEsome. Given your goal, awe is a good place to start but I also wonder what else we might want to communicate to help achieve that goal? Let's keep stargazing!
