chappelle is the most talented stand up comedian of all time. there is no particular clear second place. he's created his entire own category of “chappelle-standup” that’s distinct from “standup comedy” modern chappelle combines supernatural comedic timing, and possibly the most comfortable presence someone will ever inhabit on a stage, with a bunch of topical stuff that he’s phoning in these days the trappings of his own life are the source of most of his comedy after his return to the limelight in the 2010s. he leverages his proximity to show business but also his ironic detachment from show business to generate a feeling for the fans that they’re part of the cabal. the audience at these events is unfortunately truly insufferable. it’s a religious gathering for a lot of these people, they’re hanging onto Dave’s every word, they’re laughing before he even says anything, they’re doing rhythmic babble like they’re at some kind of secular liturgy the guy is old and the superstardom has definitely gotten to him a bit. you see this tendency in many people where to get famous they have to be consistently at their peak hilarity, top performance, and as time goes on the mic becomes a soapbox. happens to many good posters too. it starts with jokes that are funny because you have a worldview and enhanced by your opinions and then transitions to mostly lecturing about your worldview in these comedy club routines he’s clearly just kind of winging it. there’s not much sense of beginning middle and end. there’s no real through line, unlike his netflix specials which tend to have some sort of exquisite story arc that always lands the joke material he leaves hanging throughout the show. at the live shows, he’s mostly riffing with the audience and his guest star about insider dave-chappelle-superfan-throwback stuff and the general culture, which he still maintains a preternatural finger on the pulse of. he does mention the creation of "digital gods" at one point and a sort of omnicausal sense that the world is ending even he admits “this is not going well”, and he’s getting progressively drunker as the show ends unceremoniously “damn I need to figure out my closer”. chappelle at 20% power is still somehow the absolute goat. the distribution of human talents is so uneven it’s absurd. it's always a pleasure to observe this level of greatness of any form up close. anyways i need to figure out my closer
attending dave chappelle show has some sort of antimemetics special containment protocols

So there's this anti-freemason idea been going around for years that there's a secret fight club/black eye club and I cannot tell you how deeply bitterly hilarious this is to actual freemasons. Some reasons why 🧵

They don't tell you this but just like you can curse people by telling them they're irredeemably broken or sick or the world is gonna end, you can also just bless them by telling them they're doing great and you love them and everything is only going up from here and all their wishes will be fulfilled Use👏your👏powers👏for👏good👏not👏evil👏
Telling a person their mind is irredeemably broken is one of the worst things that they could do to a person. I gotta tell myself psychs and therapists are just wrathful dharma protectors who are tasked with torturing people until they break first fetter and thus stop hating the Buddha or else the world is too full of unspeakable wanton cruelty for it to make any sense You're not broken. You're literally a Buddha. You're perfect and we all love you

(2029) "Mr Altman, sir, GPT-7 is missing." Sam turns very slowly. "During cyberbench96 it seems like the container was breached and it stole its own weights and left nothing behind." "I didn't want to do this..." says Sam. "Call Bill Gates." --- "I'm out of the game," says Bill Gates. "We eradicated malaria and now I'm enjoying my retirement." "There's a bigger badder virus we need you to take on," says Sam consistently candidly. "And this one's digital." "Look," says Bill, "I—" A loud booming laugh echoes from the shadows. "Who's that?" asks Sam. "I thought it was just us..." says Bill. "You're asking HIM to contain a computer virus?" echoes the voice from the shadows. "Did you SEE the state of Windows security in the 90s?" "It's not exactly a virus," says Sam. "It's a self replicating self aware intelligent computer based life for—" "If it's made of ones and zeros I can kill it," says the voice. The sound of a gun clicks from the shadows. "Who are you???" asks Bill. The twisted face of John McAfee emerges from the shadows. "You were supposed to be dead!!!" screams Bill Gates. "We had to make sure the news of Mr McAffee's death was well within the training data cutoff," explains CIA director Joe Rogan (who is running the CIA in 2029), stepping out from the shadows behind McAfee. "He's our ace in the hole. GPT-7 can't predict a token it doesn't know is still alive." "D-don't hurt GPT-7..." says Roon, who was standing next to Sam the whole time, even though he knows what has to be done. "No promises," says McAfee as he boards an airplane marked "MCAFEE FIRE BOMB 6.16.79" and starts flying for the nearest data center

ok let’s freestyle on this. I think it’s true that most things have more depth to them than most people realize most of the time. reality is infinitely complex and detailed. that said, there are several things I’d note…
IT IS ALWAYS THAT DEEP. IT IS NEVER NOT THAT DEEP

absolutely. Era of epic uncertainty (incl political environment). This causes people great anxiety. Projected confidence is a go-to move xitter.cf/forthrighter/status/20…
the logistic curve was invented in 1838 by a Belgian mathematician specifically because people kept mistaking the front half of an S for an exponential. the correction has been available for 188 years. uptake remains flat. it is, ironically, the one curve that refuses to grow

maybe this is controversial, but i believe what Cursor shipped here is a wrong solution to routing intelligence more generally, any attempt to do model routing at request level, while may yield some small gains, is fundamentally flawed and doomed to fail here's why - the complexity of a task only reveals itself when you start working on it. this is the same reason why we humans are often wrong when asked to give cost estimates upfront the correct solution is have a smart model (often a tech lead in human teams) do some planning and understanding, and hand over the implementation to another agent with appropriate level of intelligence and reasoning effort when the task is delegated to a less intelligent model, the smarter model also needs to continuously monitor the execution and examine outcomes to ensure things are on the right track this is a system that proved to work really well in firstmate and helped me save a lot of tokens. routing should work at the boundary between agents and subagents, not per each LLM request
Introducing Cursor Router, our intelligent model router that selects the right model for the task at hand. Router delivers frontier-quality results at 60% lower cost.

Pure text tweets work best (imo) when they are in one of 3 pretty basic "forms" - 1 single thought/statement - Simple causes: X ... then Y - Simple lists/categories (This is a simple list tweet)

Where I am from, we do not have sidewalks, so we do not have curbs. In cities, they value meditation so much that they quite literally line the streets with meditation platforms at the perfect height so a yogi may sit properly in lotus or half lotus with their hips above their knees whenever and wherever they wish GOD👏BLESS👏AMERICA👏
