Exactly 80 years ago, Anne Frank and her family were arrested by the Nazis and deported. This sad anniversary was marred by antisemites who painted the hands of Anne Frank’s statue in Amsterdam with red paint, along with the words "Free Gaza."
Anne Frank was not Israeli.
She was not a defender of Netanyahu’s government.
She was not for or against Palestinians.
She was a Jewish little girl who was killed along with her family because she was Jewish.
Using her memory to protest a conflict that didn't even exist when she was alive is despicable and, yes, antisemitic.

On March 24, 1944 in Markowa, Poland a patrol of German police came to the house of Wiktoria and Józef Ulm, where they found 8 Jews, members of the Szall and Goldman families. First the Germans executed all the Jews. Then they shot pregnant Wiktoria, her husband and their 6 children. The news caused a panic in the town as other Poles were hiding Jews. The next morning 24 dead Jews were found in a field. – at Vaughan, Ontario
