The Energy Institute has just released the 2025 data for the Statistical Review of World Energy for 2025. Each year I update a chart to see how much wind and solar is being deployed per day (in TWh) and compare that to a 1 GW nuclear plant. /1

This guys lives on the other side of the world and weights into a debate about EVs in Australia. 🤷‍♂️ #justawanker
David here lives on the other side of the world yet somehow knows all about my circumstances and transport needs. David is yet another #EVwanker

We don’t have ability to supply 24/7 on demand energy at industrial scale. The issue isn’t houses

Yep. JB is an advocate of paper reactors. 🤷‍♂️
Tomorrow one of the world’s leading nuclear experts, MIT Professor Jacopo Buongiorno will be in Parliament to educate politicians about nuclear ⚛️. He’ll be speaking to politicians across the aisle at a time where power demand is growing and technology is rapidly advancing.

And today Project Energy Connect is on the grid. Brilliant timing.
Why is investment in utility solar drying up? South Australia in past 7 days shows why. Utility solar threw out (13.7)more electricity than sold (9.5). In the past 12 months utility solar threw out 42% of generation. Wind is better, but houshold batteries will kill that also.

Thread: Each week I run a simulation of Australia’s main electricity grid using rescaled generation data to show that it can get very close to 100% renewable electricity with 24GW/120GWh of storage (5 hrs at av demand) Results: Last week: 100.0% RE Last 267 weeks: 98.5% RE (1/5)

As a person who often checks into hotels early, I always check out. Pay it forward.
Seeing a lot of people on here say that they check out of hotels at the front desk I don’t think I’ve checked out of a hotel once in my entire life. I just leave and assume they’ll figure it out after my reservation is over So now I need to know Do you actually check out of hotels or do you just leave?

So why buy diesel buses when you could have electric? Make it make sense.
We're pushing ahead with the Queensland Fuel Security Plan.

Fact. Grifters hate renewables because it threatens their nuclear rort.

No.
Kernkraftwerke hingegen brauchen kein Back-up aus erneuerbaren Energien. ☢️❤️ #EnergiewendeEnde

But not if it’s our own sun and wind Diesel Dave? 🤦‍♂️
Sovereign capability means drilling, refining and storing our own fuel here in Queensland.

Actually the refineries in Australia shut down because they weren’t profitable. By the fossil fuel owners. 🤦‍♂️
Why diesel prices skyrocket when there's a supply disruption: the global anti-fossil-fuel movement has shut down vital refining capacity.

A high cost of capital disproportionally affects long build projects. If you think there is going to be a renaissance of long build projects funded by private capital. Think again.

What a load of rubbish. EPRI was wrong. What’s so hard to understand?
Replying to @JesseJenkins
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) tried to cost out solar PV back in the 80s. They concluded that even if the photovoltaic panels were free, they still wouldn't produce competitive electricity due to the cost of the supports, connections, converters, land, etc. They are installed today larger as a matter of SOCIAL engineering (tax treatment, preferential dispatch, cross-subsidies, rate design) not cost engineering.

Seriously, they just make electricity. You think Germany doesn’t have electricity now?
Ohne Kernkraftwerke wird Deutschland seinen Status als Industrienation schneller verlieren, als die Gen.X in Rente gehen wird! Deutschland wird das Argentinien des 20.Jahrhunderts.

My favourite chart from the @IEA special report on electrification. Electricity is only 23% of Final Energy (No big deal), but it's 37% of Useful Energy (What?) and delivers 46% of GDP (Wow!) And it's going clean, fast. Still think there's no transition? iea.blob.core.windows.net/as…

Wouldn’t this reach instant criticality and explode? Asking for a friend.
