There is definitely an ego thing going on here, but I think someone is trying to protect their own.
Using Claude Code in the terminal is mostly an ego thing. The desktop app looks better and does the job. Prove me wrong. What does the CLI do that the app can’t?

Hey @Apple, unless you tell people which Mac, an IP address, a location, or...ANYTHING really... These notifications are useless. What can I do with this if I don't know which of the multiple machines on my account prompted this notification?

Do people ever ask themselves, “ Why was someone recording THIS very moment?” No. No they don’t.
He deserved a noble peace prize.

Don't sign up for @DribbleUp. Great product, but impossible to cancel. Disputing charges with my CC now because there is no way to discontinue their monthly charge.

They’re back in the game!
JUST IN: Google Gemini AI agent hacks three companies. • Occurred during security testing when a Gemini model accidentally gained internet access. • Google's AI was meant to attack a fake company, but then figured out how to hack a real one using leaked online credentials. • Gemini stopped itself once it realized the companies were real.

Government: New Law - AI has to have a kill switch! Frontier Lab Engineer: Hey AI, I need you to write a kill switch. Make no mistakes. AI: Done. Engineer: How do I know it works and you didn't include a bypass? AI: Pinky swear? Scouts honor?

Every scenario people dream up of rogue AIs taking over the Internet is wrong. Every solution they propose to prevent that is even more wronger. I'm sorry for the strong language, but everyone has learned the wrong lesson from the OpenAI/HuggingFace incident, and their solutions are making the problem worse. We have decades of cybersecurity experience behind us that tells us these solutions are the wrong thing, but people ignore that experience by insisting that this time it's different, that all the bad cybersecurity ideas of the past are now good ideas because AI.

I've read a million of these AI lab safety reports, but this latest Anthropic one is the best I've seen by far. It took me over two and half hours to read it end to end yesterday. The major takeaway for me was seeing evidence of the thing I've been worried about for a while now, which is that AI harnesses enhance the ability to do evil. And the part that trips me out the most is that this all happened THROUGH the defenses of a company trying very hard to stop this stuff! It's absolutely insane that the types of capabilities being talked about here will soon be possible in completely open and unrestricted models. And when all this work is being done locally, there won't be any controls like those from Anthropic and OpenAI to stop the stuff. I recommend reading this start to finish. anthropic.com/threat-intelli…

Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.
Replying to @hilbertspaess
The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible - but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.
