Thanks for the recommendation. And yes, Jim Coplien is a good reference. I did a course with him in Romania a couple of years ago.

The core idea is simple: keep a dedicated USB stick at home to unlock your system effortlessly, and leave it behind whenever you head out, so your machine stays securely encrypted on the go.

When you say it like this, it sounds to me like you were going to talk about MVC's controller, which were never meant to be what they are today in most frameworks, only a very small group get it right and honour the user. MVC got renamed to MVCU at some point. Laravel Controllers

@taylorotwell knowing Laravel, would you use some multi-tenancy Laravel package or use global scopes for a multi-tenancy SaaS (one tenant has many users).

that's right. You want to represent the essential coupling as it is (in reality), no less no more.

"Decoupling" is way overused. Coupling is unavailable. If A uses B, A is coupled to B. If B changes its interface used by A, A will have to change: A->B You might alleviate the direct dependency: A->B1->B Yet, A is still coupled to B, and now B1 too. A->B is just less obvious.

Software is more like science than mathematics. Mathematical expressions are provable, scientific theories are merely demonstrable. Math is deductive. Science is empirical. Software is empirical. We demonstrate, but do not prove, correctness.

(1/2) It is much harder to teach OO programming today than it used to be because of 30 years of brainwashing: plainly wrong views of OO with grave misunderstandings that found their way into the dominant ones . You have to unteach first. Example from yesterday:
