A post on navigating the trade-off between safety and utility in AI. AI is “probabilistic software”, there will always be unknown edge cases and these can be scary - especially for incumbents with a lot to lose, opening the door for startups!

The founders of over 100 European startups have come together to get more people to build and join startups in Europe.
The campaign, named "Built in Europe", is an out-of-home and digital advertising campaign across five European cities.
It features:
> @mati of @ElevenLabs
> @NStoronsky of @Revolut
> @antonosika of @Lovable
> @HBO_Sweden of @lassie_co
> @vriparbelli of @synthesiaIO
> @FredrikHjelm4 of @voitechnology & @Pitdotcom
> @Barney_H_Y of @meetcleo
And many other great European founders and CEOs.
It's been organised by @balderton but features companies and founders from all over Europe.
The VC firm has built a website bringing together jobs from 1,000 leading tech startups on a single platform using direct data feeds and API integrations.
The overall aim is to get more people building and founding companies here which is AMAZING to see.

We're proud to have collaborated with @nvidia and @QCHardware on the release of NVIDIA Ising Calibration, the first open Vision Language Model for quantum calibration.
Together with EeroQ, we used it to build a working proof of concept for an autonomous quantum computing lab. 🧵

It's about time finance got a platform that actually works the way teams do.
Today, we're launching Flow: an AI-native ERP for multi-entity finance that brings Accounting and FP&A together in one place.
No more choosing between outdated legacy systems or months-long implementations. No more stitching together tools just to keep up.
Flow is built for lean finance teams managing complex, multi-entity operations, so they can spend more time driving the business forward.
From @Wendys to @crumbl, Flow is built for teams ready to scale.
Perhaps one of the most important books you will read.

Opinion polls often show lots of people personally willing to pay more tax. But they never ask the obvious follow-up question: how much more tax?
We did. It wasn't pretty.
Twice as many people believe spending on public services should be increased even if it means tax rises for h/holds like theirs (56%), than agree taxes should be reduced for h/holds like theirs, even if it meant less spending on public services (24%)

Massive achievement by the whole Orbex team! Co-axial tanking is a game-changer in space launch.
We're very happy to announce that we have been granted an international patent across more than 12 countries to protect our innovative coaxial tanking technology, which nests the main rocket fuel tank within the main oxidizer tank.

Good photo of Alan Bates. I should know. I took it, when there weren’t that many people interested in the #PostOfficeScandal. Now the @Telegraph have stolen it. I asked them to contact me last week when they used it without permission. They didn’t. telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/01…
