Its Been 50 Years of Hip Hop! Rap Purists love lyricism & want to erase hip hop history, so Imma give some GOATS their flowers: Lil B the Based God & Soulja Boy are 2 of the most influential rappers of our time. Without them, this rap landscape would look SUPER different. Some of the first super prolific rappers with the craziest work ethic. Based freestyling is literally its own sub genre of Hip Hop, still active to this day. In a time where tough guys and super serious lyricists were dominating rap, these guys showed how important it was for fun music to exist. Showed the world that you didn't have to be super lyrical to make it in rap, all you have to do is stay true to yourself & have fun doing what you love. Some people like to think they killed hip hop but I think they evolved it.
