Into data before it was big. Keeping the world safe both from folks armed with pivot tables and people trained to detect cats at scale. Shallow learning champ.

Hot Take: It's not great when people ask econometrics and programming questions here. While they get great advice from smart people, those answers are usually lost to posterity, given the recency bias and poor search on Twitter. This means the same questions come up repeatedly.

San Francisco progressives represented by supervisor @JackieFielder_ blocked housing on an empty lot of standing drain water for a decade.
After nearly ten years of being a vacant lot, 181 new homes are finally approved at 22nd & Mission thanks to some new state laws. The NIMBY era is over, long live growth! growsf.org/news/2025-05-16-2…

PSA: there is a very good email, which I feel is unlikely to be legitimate, that targets quirks in Superhuman and an economic arrangement with a startup-adjacent vendor that very many founders are likely to have, attempting to get one to click on a link.

It’s been a tough few weeks. My 10yo daughter was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer called interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS). I’m reaching out to identify clinicians/patients who have encountered pediatric IDCS, indeterminate dendritic cell histiocytosis or other (non-LCH) histiocytic sarcomas cases. I'm trying to understand non-surgical chemo and targeted therapy options, new pathology markers to better diagnose subtypes/treatments, and any data on progression in pediatric patients. Please feel free to share – I’m trying to cast a wide net due to the rarity of this condition and how little is known. People can contact me directly at my first name (as written in my profile) at octant.bio.

My favorite aristonut:
The 3rd Earl of Darnley was a confirmed bachelor, nearing 50, who was convinced he was a teapot. He suddenly married an heiress and fathered seven children, despite his concerns that his spout could break-off in the night.

“Here I am, bald at last. So much the better! What use to me was hair? It was not exactly an ornament, and I was the natural victim of all barbers, an ignoble breed, who exhaled into my face their disdain, or caressed me like a mistress, or patted my cheek like a parish priest.”

I once asked him: ‘What beliefs does your thermostat have?’ And he said: ‘My thermostat has three beliefs — it’s too hot in here, it’s too cold in here, and it’s just right in here.’
