The Asia Society is excited to announce a new, permanent home in Washington, D.C. for its Policy Institute and Center for China Analysis at the Blaine Mansion, a historic building in Dupont Circle at the intersection of think tank and Embassy rows. President and CEO of the Asia Society, @MrKRudd, said that “Asia Society's purchase of the Blaine Mansion was made possible by a lead gift from Stephen A. Schwarzman, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Blackstone and Asia Society Global Trustee. Asia Society is deeply grateful to Mr. Schwarzman and the many Global Trustees and institutional supporters of the Society whose help made this new home possible.”

The first US shipment of food and relief supplies have arrived in Nepal. Also @anilkathmandu @kathmandupost reports that Nepal has agreed to permit foreign teams from India, China, Australia and South Korea to contribute to search operations: kathmandupost.com/national/2…
The United States is delivering a range of supplies requested by the Government of Nepal and is working with Nepal to ensure that assistance reaches the people who need it.    Today, Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom sent the first shipment of emergency supplies from the United States to Nepalis affected by the flooding. Catholic Relief Services, working through implementing partner Caritas Nepal, will deliver more than 2.5 metric tons of food supplies, 500 blankets, 500 mosquito nets, and 500 insulating foam sheets for temporary shelter flooring to two school locations in Rasuwa.

U.S. Embassy Nepal is closely coordinating with the Government of Nepal, Catholic Relief Services, and Caritas Nepal to prepare and deliver subsequent shipments of supplies that match Nepal’s needs.

“In a background briefing, the official underscored that the US is very keen to invest in Pakistan's mineral sector, with American investors also exploring the possibility of buying small mines worth a few million dollars. "The US is ready to finance another Reko Diq-sized project where the feasibility is showing potential," said the official. However, security remains the biggest challenge, which has already delayed the much trumpeted $7.7 billion first phase of the Reko Diq project.” tribune.com.pk/story/2622296…
