Our latest Global Multidimensional Poverty Index, published today, shows 1.2 billion people living in multidimensional poverty. More than half are children.
Yet 33 countries have halved poverty in under 15 years.
Progress is possible. This is no time to retreat.

Tourism is a powerful engine of development.
More jobs. Stronger local businesses. More opportunities for communities worldwide.
Today, UN Tourism Secretary-General Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais and I signed a new agreement.
Together, @UNDP and @UNWTO will work to make tourism more sustainable, inclusive and beneficial to local communities.
The housing crisis is a governance & financing challenge. 🏘️
Nearly 3B people lack adequate housing, while local governments work to deliver the 2030 Agenda, often with limited resources & authority.
To close the gap, addressing local challenges is a priority.
