The $PHP peso hit another record; BVAL repricing concentrated at the short end, led by 3-month (+0.0878 bps) and 1-year (+0.0717). Different markets, different pressure points. Whac-a-mole economics: the signal lies not in one benchmark, but in where the pressure resurfaces
Twenty-eight records in 2026 (3rd in October) and no disorderly spike: $USDPHP 63.09 (+0.17%) on $1.778B volume (+11.24%). From a soft cap, or BSP has quietly moved to a low-volatility, low volume crawl (up 11.24%). A slow grind up is still depreciation, just paid in installments

CPCA # of China's Sep auto mkt: BYD led the way 247k retail sales & 174k in export (it's stocking up the retail stores in advance of Q4, which will cause drop in Q1 sales) Geely, Chery & ChangAn followed them w/ 177k, 86k & 82k in retail sales. Everyone else under 80k. Domestic Sedan sales way down -38% & same w/ MPV -31%. SUV is -19% Export up everywhere. Sedan did the best YoY, but by volume, SUV saw the biggest jump YoY. For NEVs: 765k out of 1.084m were BEVs (so BEV ratio continue to climb). BEV -8.5% YoY while PHEV -35.7% & EREV -17.3% Basically, anything w/ an engine is falling rapidly this yr while BEVs are doing okay.

I call this “much higher for much longer” regime shift
Not just the back end bidding up—Brent front vs M12 21d rolling correlation is dumping to levels unseen since last spring’s prompt spike(uncertainty blowout). Setup flipped completely. Front is grinding slow, but long dated paper is rallying faster than back then. Back end decoupling from the front signals a regime shift. Time to reprice the "crude dumps once this ends" consensus. #oott #iran

321 crack spreads -$0.30 WoW to $56.01 to close on 10/16. WTI +$9.56 WoW to $101.41 to close on 10/16. $56.01 are huge crack spreads in the US and reflect the global thirst for petroleum products from the US. $56.01 is a huge economic incentive for US refiners to draw more crude and run at max capacity to make big margins. And as was heard in Q2 calls, refiners are running at max levels with these returns. Thx @business #oott

Too much gold? Not for China's savers. Chinese gold ETFs added 11 tonnes in September to a record 304 tonnes as their stock market slid, and the People's Bank of China bought 63 tonnes in the third quarter, its biggest quarter since the third quarter of 2023.
Can you own too much gold? Kazakhstan's central bank thinks so. Gold has grown to about 78% of its reserves, and it wants that down to 75% by year-end. Poland went the other way, adding 24.9 tonnes in September to sit 27 short of its 700-tonne target. We wrote it up below.

CN has three gold reserve data. 1. Internally reserve data, state secrets, held internally but not publicly disclosed. 2. Reserve data of PBoC, monthly external disclosure. 3. Real reserve data, top secret! Only policy makers and a very small number of departments know.

Anthropic IPO valuation expectations are FALLING as revenue growth slows. Some investors are discussing an Anthropic IPO valuation of ~$1.5 trillion, DOWN from the ~$2 trillion previously anticipated, according to Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter. This comes as company's revenue growth slowed to +45% QoQ in Q3, with revenue reaching $16.8 billion after more than doubling to $11.6 billion in Q2. Notably, estimated monthly revenue growth slowed from ~33% in January-July to just 3.4%-6.6% in August-September. As a result, estimates based on monthly revenue put Anthropic’s September exit run rate at just $69-$74 billion, well below the ~$100 billion year-end run rate investors had anticipated. Anthropic also reported a $42 billion loss in 2025 and has committed to spending at least $518 billion on cloud services, computing and infrastructure over the next decade, ~80% of which is non-cancelable, adding to financial concerns. Meanwhile, despite US IPOs raising $163 billion year-to-date, September saw just 5 sizable listings raise $1.9 billion, the lowest monthly total since March, as rising Treasury yields and growing uncertainty made it harder to bring companies to market. At the same time, the broader AI selloff is already hitting chipmakers, AI infrastructure firms and cloud computing providers, amid growing investor concerns over the debt piling up behind the AI spending. Anthropic’s IPO is emerging as a key test of investor appetite for AI.
