Unfocused rambling about the big fantasy franchise.

very time someone whips out the "haranir don't know everything, it's all just speculation!" defense they should be reminded that they have a tablet that puts the Jailer prophecy to shame. at least he only "predicted" like 4 expansions instead of the entire world's story

There's a longer thread you could do on how what retail focuses on now is solely measuring how Correct a person is and thinking that's all the intrigue needed whether it's about in-universe knowledge or morality. Everything is prophecies and cosmic jargon, all of it is boring.

"Too much Light can make you go crazy but too much void can also make you go crazy but a medium amount of Light will make you Lightblinded but you can still be saved but can Arator-" This is not a story this is someone trying to dramatize balancing the pH of your soil

Feedback is irrelevant at this point. The writers are so completely out of touch with the very basic principles of the IP they are working on that it's a Sisyphean task. It's like believing you can train a fish to breathe air if you just plead with it long enough.
I lost all hope with the dawnwell sludge and haven't played since but I think retails lore and storytelling is just kind of unsalvagable. Like I dont see a route short of a total reboot and that's not in the cards. There's only so many "just ignore it" a setting can sustain.

I don't know man nobody that works on retail makes public appearances or talks about the game anymore, every time "Ion" does an interview it's just this audio on repeat over and over. iykyk

The amount of QA on a team is irrelevant if developers never fix any of the bugs they report. WoW could have a QA team 500-strong and it would be identical to having no QA team if the developers don't fix day 1 issues of "the final boss arena has no collision".

Layoffs are not the explanation for the current state of WoW, it's an unsustainable patch cadence that is nearing the point of total implosion.

Fire the writing team. Hire new writers. Hire better writers. Hire people who have read A book and can write. Any book. It'll be an improvement.

All I'll say is that continued employment on the World of Warcraft team at Blizzard Entertainment is not a human right

Remember the rules of the playground, kids.
They show more contempt for indigenous characters than white supremacist coded ones

Elf Unity was ill received, and the community warned in advance it would be ill received. Zul'jan dying was warned against since the *second* the characters were revealed, and they did it anyways. The plot killed the hype. Nobody cares what happens in Midnight now, they know it.
I know WoW Forever is new and exciting, and I'm really excited for it too, but it's been kinda weird how quiet things have been for Retail recently. We've got a new patch coming next week and there wasn't even a tweet announcing the release date. Even the October Trading Post launched without an official preview for the first time. Just feels unusually quiet.

WoW writers be like Mom? We don't, we're not currently talking about Mom at the moment. There's this pair of floating hands - we need to focus on that, we're not sure where Mom is at the moment. Mom isn't really relevant to the plot right now we need to address the floating hands

Ion: More Mom content? So, great question. Um, it's a matter of resources, and, um, resources are finite. We'd love to do more Mom content, absolutely, but - you know, the floating hand story, we have to do something about the hands. We're not really hearing a demand for more Mom

"I hope retail's writers see how popular Forever's approach to writing has been!" brother they're more likely to add an NPC called I'aam Stupyd who talks about how he hates all things Modern™ and just wants things to stay the same Forever™ before a giant rock falls on him
