I guess “photon” = raw image as opposed to processed image, meaning #FSDBeta 11 bypasses the FSD chip’s ISP thus eliminating its latency? en.wikichip.org/wiki/tesla_(…

Change of plans allowed by ~10x/yr purely algorithmic (same hardware) improvement of AI intelligence Elon alluded to earlier this year having materialized in FSD on AI4? @pbeisel @ChuckCook @DirtyTesLa “Most people in the AI community don’t yet understand, which is almost no one understands this. The intelligence density potential is vastly greater than what we’re currently experiencing. So I think we’re off by 2 orders of magnitude in terms of the intelligence density per gigabyte. … That’s just algorithmic improvement. Same computer, and the computers are getting better! … like a 10x improvement per year type of thing 1000%. This compounds rapidly: 10x smarter in year one, 100x in year two, 1,000x in year three, etc.” — Elon Musk (Moonshots podcast, January 6, 2026)
Optimus and our supercomputer clusters. AI4 is enough to achieve much better than human safety for FSD.

I agree with what Omar is saying here. Keeping basic Autopilot isn't the best solution. Including a basic set of ADAS features with all Teslas—at minimum, lane keeping and adaptive cruise control—is critical. Unfortunately, Elon's communication suggested that FSD Supervised prices are rising, while the website simultaneously showed Autosteer removed, leaving only Traffic-Aware Cruise Control (TACC). I can say firsthand that the first few months of Cybertruck ownership with only TACC were pretty miserable. If FSD Supervised will include a basic set of ADAS features on all Teslas as a substitute, we need to hear about it. People's purchasing decisions depend on important information like this.
Nobody actually wants Autopilot. It is completely obsolete. What they actually want is just a free option.

Tesla Robotaxis operating fully autonomously in Prüm, Germany, transporting passengers without any driver or safety operator on board.
The Tesla Robotaxis continue to drive in Prüm, 🇩🇪 Germany without anyone in the driver seat - fully autonomous. There is no safety driver in the car either and the vehicles transport people to their destination. "A Tesla glides down the street. No driver at the wheel. No hands on the steering wheel. Just a screen in the control center, where a technical supervisor monitors operations. What is happening here is not just some tech demo for the national press—it is the first approved driverless operation in German public transport. And the starting signal for a revolution that should make mayors and transport officials across the country sit up and take notice." kommunal.de/warum-der-eifelk…

Tesla's Q4 2025 deliveries of 418k missed analyst estimates (~423k-440k) and dropped 15-16% YoY, with full-year down 8.5%. However, energy storage surged to 14.2 GWh (record Q4) and 46.7 GWh annually (+49% from 2024). Stock rose post-announcement, buoyed by energy growth and robotaxi prospects. Overall mixed, but bullish on non-auto segments.

Replying to @DarrigoMelanie
@DarrigoMelanie claims below that @elonmusk could solve all the problems in the US by paying for a menu of social benefits totalling $598b out of his theoretical $600b or so net worth. This is the kind of financial ignorance often displayed by so many...the assertion is so silly that not even Community Notes could cover all the errors she incurs. The first problem - that @DarrigoMelanie herself points out when she responds to her own assertion - Elon would virtually exhaust, within a single year, his own $600b net worth by paying for all the benefits she asserts he could afford. What would be the value of that? Within a year, all the unfortunates benefitted for the year would once more find themselves in the same situation, and Elon would have nothing to give them. The second problem - that escapes Melanie - is that if Elon decided to spend the $598b she details - he would NOT be left with $2b - or the theoretical balance of his assets. He'd be left owing a fortune of money on his debts. That is because if Elon elected to sell his shares in order to realize this theoretical $600b plus to fund the $598b Melanie would have him spend, his shares would plummet in value. He would be hard pressed to realize $300b after taxes, and certainly substantially less. The proof is clear - when Elon decided to sell 10% of his Tesla shares in order to pay taxes in November 2021, the stock dropped 16% within 2 days. He sold $16.4b of stock, and paid $11b in taxes, realizing less than $6b of cash, and his net worth dropped by about 10%. So the clueless Melanie doesn't get the simple fact that taxes would take at least half the net worth, and the stock price would - if Elon attempted to realize all of his net worth - decline by a huge factor, perhaps even more than the tax bill. It is unlikely that Elon would emerge with more than even $200b. But far worse would be the impact on his 150,000 employees, and the 200,000 employees of his company's suppliers? Sans Musk in control, there is little doubt that his companies would not only halt expansion, but would in all probability decline. Not to mention the loss of all the future expansion that only the genius of Elon's imagination promises. That's another, much longer conversation. But the most essential element of the silliness of her assertion is that at the end of the exhaustion of Musk's theoretical ssets - at the end of year 1 - all the people he had helped would be left to pay their own tuition, childcare, school meals, sick leave, solve their own homelessness, and once again face hunger and have no UBI. And all these problems would still be left to be solved, and no value would have been created for society. But this is never in the calculus of the socialists. They are in the business of destruction, rather than the creation of value.
Elon Musk is so rich that he could pay for: - tuition-free public college - universal childcare - close the cap to fund universal school meals - paid sick leave - ending homelessness - ending hunger - UBI of $1250 for every adult ...and he'd still be a billionaire.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The above proposed UBI alone would cost over 4 trillion per year. A Georgetown study estimates that tuition for all would cost between 27 and 75 billion in the first year. Networth = assets vs liabilities, it is not a checking account statement. ubicenter.org/what-is-ubi/wh… cew.georgetown.edu/cew-reports/fr… investopedia.com/terms/n/networ…

For ~same mass, Elon’s projected always-in-sun 100 kW AI satellite = 20 kW Starlink V3 - giant Earth-pointing antenna - batteries + AI compute & radiators + more solar arrays. Laser comms identical.
SpaceX has way more satellites in orbit than the rest of the world combined, so maybe we know a thing or two about the subject 🤣 Starlink V3 will be 20kW and launched at scale around Q4 next year. No problem to scale that to >100kW if the satellite mass is shifted towards solar arrays and radiators for AI compute, instead of giant phased array antennas for Internet connectivity. As you mention, it would use the same laser comms system as Starlink to connect to Starlink. An AI satellite is easier, not harder, than the Starlink V3 design, which is a marvel of engineering created by an epic team of humans. I am so proud of the @SpaceX team.

Based on Elon Musk's statements and recent reports, scaled-up Starlink V3 satellites with laser links are planned by SpaceX for orbital data centers, which could handle AI computing. This suggests they might serve as both AI satellites (for computation) and interconnects (via lasers) in sun-synchronous orbits for constant power. Details are emerging, so watch for updates.

It wouldn’t be fair to Tesla if its self-driving tech didn’t bear its initial when it will be used by other automakers in the near future.
Renaming FSD to TSD could strengthen Tesla's brand in licensing deals. By emphasizing "Tesla Self-Driving," it positions the tech as a proprietary system, like "Powered by Tesla," making it attractive for other automakers to integrate without rebranding. This could boost revenue streams, as Elon has hinted at broader adoption, while maintaining Tesla's edge in AI autonomy.

FSD could use Waze in exchange for automatically reporting issues it sees with a high certainty. Win-win deal between Tesla and Waze/Google @elonmusk?
Bad map data continues to feel like the achilles heel that needs a better solution. I seem to feel like a crowdsourced solution is the fix. If Tesla is going for a completely scaleable solution where HD mapping (like for Robotaxi) is not required, we need to find a way for owners/users to report these issues. These are items the navigation stack needs to be aware of. Think of how Waze handles "object on road ahead". The issue stays in the stack as long. as users continue to report it, if reports slow down, it disappears ON ITS OWN. This same solution would work for potholes and many other temporary, issues. @teslasi

Chuck’s first FSD 14.1.7 ride on his new Model Y was packed with perfection, smooth, awesome. It will go wide! Can’t wait for the video 🤗
First drive with FSD v14.1.7 is complete. The first impressions video is over an hour long, and packed with ... perfection. Braking issues are gone, smoothness is back, it feels very similar to the @Cybertruck on v14.1.5 but with the quickness and agility of the Juniper Model Y. This was my first FSD v14 drive in the 2026 vehicle and it was awesome. Highlights and full length video to come today. This will go wide for everyone I think, it already has started on the Cybertruck.

Without any doubt FSD should not only be LEGAL all around the globe, but also encouraged and incentivized by regulators for saving lives. It’s a disgrace that so many countries still hesitate and/or hinder full rollout of the FSD

Wow 14.1.4 is indeed impressive on snow! Have you noticed any braking in a straight line or other maneuvers suggesting FSD might be testing the road+tires slipperiness?
FSD 14.1.4: I didn't have the guts to go Mad Max, so I stuck with Chill mode. This thing is incredible ! Three things I noticed on snowy/icy roads: • FSD 14.1.4 relies heavily on the bumper camera. The car complained a lot about it being blocked from slush. • The car asked me to take over at one point (probably due to the blocked bumper camera), but then it ignored its own request and seamlessly continued—giving me just a split-second of panic before everything was fine. • The car stayed in full control without any skidding, which was seriously impressive given the slippery conditions. (To clarify, I was on winter tires.) NB: @chuckcook a few years ago I mentioned to you that these kinds of conditions would be the ultimate test. I've yet to try freezing rain—that's the real ultimate test.

Come on. Nearly 10k signatures on the Europe Tesla FSD petition 🇪🇺. Let’s do it together. Just for the feels 😅 If we reach 10k, @elonmusk 👀 will have a word about FSD in Europe at today’s annual shareholder meeting @Tesla. Maybe we get some sort of Christmas gift from Tesla to just get our toes wet in this year’s holiday update. (FSD Visualization) 🤞 c.org/NymJMzT4wx
