This is Munyaradzi Gwisai addressing university lecturers, including professors at the University of Zimbabwe today in Harare.
He is the legal advisor for the Association of University Teachers at the University of Zimbabwe and also a law lecturer at the same university.
Gwisai said the strike by the academics is not just about the lecturers, who earn US$230 (R4,181) a month, but also about the underpaid working class of Zimbabwe.
RETWEET if you support their cause and strike!

A friend brought this coffee for me today.
It is grown by Zimbabweans in Kenya and exported to Zimbabwe.
You see, Kenya has provided a safe and stable environment for them to farm and export their coffee.
A serious coffee farmer in Manicaland, Farfell Estate, had their farm invaded in 2020 by the son of the then Provincial Minister.
The invasion by Remembrance Mbudzana made international headlines because Furfell is an international brand that brought millions of dollars to Zimbabwe.
This coffee product from Mt Selinda was found on breakfast tables and coffee houses in Switzerland.
There is a reason why Zimbabwe is now the riskiest investment destination in Africa, and also the one with the least return according to Oxford Economics.
Kenya鈥檚 economy was smaller than Zimbabwe鈥檚 economy in 1992, but today Kenya鈥檚 economy is more than 5 times bigger than Zimbabwe鈥檚.
This has been caused by Kenya鈥檚 policies and stable economic environment.
If you harass farmers 20 years after the land reform started and invade every successful farm, the farmers will go where they feel safe and where they feel they are valued, both black and white.
You can鈥檛 blame sanctions for a shrinking economy when you are setting fires everywhere disturbing the assets that generate foreign exchange for you.
Well done to these Zimbabweans who didn鈥檛 give up but went to a place where their work is appreciated.
We have farms today that are lying idle, why do we do this to ourselves?

Everything about Mnangagwa is fraud. His history is so distorted that's why some people believe he was born in Zimbabwe when in fact he was born in Zambia.
Please show people where it say Emmerson Mnangagwa in this sentence.
Of primary sources, this is court record outlining the then young @edmnangagwa 's sentence in 1965 where he escaped death sentence and was sentenced to 10 years in jail.

I have just listened to this video by the new Bulawayo Mayor, @DavidColtart, I like what I heard.
Bulawayo has a real chance for turning around with this mindset of zero tolerance to corruption, craft competence and unity.
He must be supported by the Bulawayo community, all of it!
Through his previous record as a GNU minister, he will be able to attract international support for Bulawayo.
David will not mourn about ZANUPF, he is a good example of a person who will try until stopped, he did that as a GNU minister.
You are in for good times Bulawayo, where he is frustrated, the citizens must stand with their mayor.
I like his broad based message of working with everyone and not treating his work in partisan ways.

My brother, I believe that you are prematurely drawing this political season to an end. My take on it is that this is just the beginning.
The inauguration means nothing. It's just a hollow political act. There is concensus on the huge diplomatic coup that the opposition has scored against ED's regime.
Let's let that play out. In my book, @CCCZimbabwe & @nelsonchamisa overwhelmingly won this election. It's for that reason that SADC's institutions have backed them.
There will always be lots of room to improve in any organisation, but now isn't the time for a post mortem. Now is the time to ready the troops for an impending battle of wills that is just over the horizon.
I am reading the situation completely different from you. ED & his regime won a pyrrhic victory & totally lost the war.
The opposition will now need upping the ante on a strategic level to make their gains on the battlefield count.
ED was clearly snubbed by SADC leaders. Him & his regime aren't blind. That's an unprecedented step in the history of the region.
The stain of illegitimacy currently effectively renders ED a dead & stinking political carcass. He's going to struggle to govern. It's clear that we are heading for the season of diplomacy.
That's where the opposition will need to be on guard. They will need to be alert, well briefed, resilient, adept & immovable on their core values.
Short of an armed struggle, including to free my brothers Job Sikhala & Jacob Ngarivhume, this is the only way they could have advanced their cause. My view is that ED has deliberately made their release impossible for 2 purposes:
1. To send a chilling message to other would be dissenters and;
2. To create division & disaffection amongst opposition ranks;
I lose no sleep over the Constitution, bank account, website etc deficits. I consider them to be basic minimum requirements which will be addressed in due course.
Their absence has to be read within the context of the helter-skelter manner in which CCC was birthed in January 2022. It's true however that the longer this goes without being addressed, the more it'll rightly elicit criticism.
The reason why FAZ & ED panicked & resorted to those self-defeating stone age tactics was due to the brilliance of the political operation mounted by the opposition in extremely difficult political conditions!
