RESIST DOUBT, DEFEAT HOPELESSNESS… “And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” Matthew 11:2–3 Even John the Baptist, who had proclaimed Christ, prepared the way for Him and witnessed the power of God, found himself asking questions while sitting in prison. His imprisonment reminds us that following Christ does not exempt us from persecution, sacrifice, disappointment or seasons of uncertainty. Sometimes, the circumstances around us can make us question or doubt what we once knew with certainty. But John did the right thing: he took his questions to Jesus. Doubt may knock at the door, but it does not have to become our dwelling place. When uncertainty comes, do not abandon your faith, seek Christ, Him crucified. Jesus remains the answer.
Jesus is the Coming One.

ZIMBABWE NEEDS SENSIBLE LEADERS… #JustImagine If every U.S. president had declared his own birthday a national public holiday, the United States could theoretically have 45 additional presidential birthday holidays, because 45 different individuals have served as president. #JustImagine if every president had made his own birthday a public holiday, America would be celebrating presidents instead of being productive and fulfilling the national goals. THE JESUS LEADERSHIP EXAMPLE…Mark 3:13–19 Our Lord Jesus Christ had a team of disciples, each with unique characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. The leadership lesson is profound: every leader has a Thomas, a John, a James, a Peter and even a Judas. Thomas-the questioner; he needs evidence before he believes. The doubter who needs evidence. John-the devoted one; loyal and relational. The loyal, intimate supporter. James-the committed one; willing to sacrifice and endure. Peter-the passionate one; bold, imperfect, but capable of restoration. The passionate follower who may stumble but can recover. Judas-the betrayer; close to the leader, yet ultimately disloyal. The trusted person whose loyalty ultimately fails. The key lesson is that every leader will encounter different kinds of people; those who question, those who love, those who serve, those who stumble and rise again, and those who may betray. Great leadership requires recognizing that not everyone close to you has the same heart, motives, or level of loyalty. For every leader, there is a Thomas who questions, a John who remains loyal, a James who stands committed, a Peter who stumbles but rises again, and a Judas who betrays and never recovers. THE ROUGH ROAD TO FREEDOM…On this day, 11 September 1999, the MDC was launched at Rufaro Stadium. But the journey did not begin there. Before the launch, we undertook a nationwide stakeholders’ consultative process that culminated in the National Working People’s Convention, held from 26–28 February 1999 in Harare. It was convened by the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), alongside representatives from more than 40 civic organisations. We were part of that historic process, representing students under the ZINASU banner. That gathering laid the groundwork and called for a vigorous alternative political movement, directly leading to the formation of the MDC later that year. There are important lessons in how the MDC was formed and, more importantly, in what went into it before the movement was formally announced. For starters, the MDC was inherently a people’s movement, not a political party. In my considered view, the mistake was prematurely turning this great and glorious movement idea into a narrow political-party vehicle, essentially reducing ourselves to a parliamentary and local-authorities party, far removed from the original idea of conveying and midwifing real change in Zimbabwe. Different organisations, with different interests, came together to constitute this variegated movement, to birth and deliver a new order in Zimbabwe. At the launch of the MDC on 11 September 1999, if you had gone to Morgan Tsvangirai, Gibson Sibanda, or any of my colleagues in that stadium and told us that 27 years later, in 2026, we would still be fighting ZANU PF, we would probably have dismissed you or disciplined you! We were so convinced it would be a walkover. A sprint. A walk in the park. But the road has been rough. The walk has been tough. I remember going to a restaurant along Third Street and Josiah Moyo called The Point Restaurant. They served very nice Portuguese chicken and had a bar. I went there for lunch with Learnmore Jongwe and bumped into Simon “Chopper” Chimbetu, who was enjoying a beer in the presence of Munyaradzi Huni, a journalist with Zimpapers. We almost had a fight with Chimbetu because we were telling him he was counter-revolutionary for singing “Kuti kuState House kure,” a song he had sung against us in the democratic movement. We were saying: “Iwe mudhara iwe, you say kuState House kure, iyo State House iri apo!” It was a big fight! In those days, cancel culture was huge. We had a couple of individuals, including Andy Brown and others, whom we thought were anti-people, so we would boycott their shows. And I was confidently and boisterously saying: “State House is near.” I was saying Chopper was sponsored by Zpf. Chopper was correct. Indeed, State House has been far. And here we are, just around the corner. Almost there. We cannot have come this far not to arrive. Arriving is the only logical conclusion. Having come this far, we will definitely get there. The enthusiasm we had as young people then teaches me an important lesson: a struggle is not a picnic. It is not some romantic escapade where everything is honky-dory. Enthusiasm can easily turn into disappointment, disillusionment and despondency. But we have chosen to defeat all that negativity and remain focused on the goal. Democratic and citizenocratic victory in our lifetime remains our objective. And we will get there. Thank you, Zimbabwe, for believing and standing with us. They have tried every trick to divide us and break us. But they have hardened us through three decades of struggle for real change and true freedom. Many have lost property, jobs and opportunities. Many have been killed. We have been abused, incarcerated and terrorised. We refuse to be compromised. We refuse to be swallowed. We stand firm. We remain strong , committed and loyal to the citizens struggle for dignity and prosperity. WE, THE CITIZENS. We are emerging stronger. And we are retooling! VENDING IS NOT A CRIME. Dear Zpf Politicians, never take citizens for granted. The lives, livelihoods and aspirations of citizens are far too important to be reduced to electioneering, sloganeering and political games. For many citizens, vending is not a choice. It is a means of survival, a livelihood and a way of providing for families. Leadership means compassion. Citizens deserve policies that protect dignity and livelihoods, not politics that makes their daily struggles harder. Stop playing politics with citizens’ lives. Citizens first. Citizens always.

THE WICKED’S TIME IS SHORT.. “I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.” Psalm 37:35–36 The wicked may appear prosperous, powerful and untouchable for a season, but their triumph is temporary. They may spread like a flourishing tree and appear unconquerable, but they will not endure forever. God’s justice may seem delayed, but it is never evaded or avoided. The wicked falls in a moment; what appears permanent today will disappear in no time. In the blink of an eye, their season will end, and they will be seen no more. Therefore, do not fear the false power of the wicked. Their time is short. Stay faithful, stand firm, and trust #Godisinit Blessed Sabbath.

DEEPLY SADDENED by the sudden passing of H.E. Ms Katrin Hagemann, Ambassador of the European Union to Zimbabwe @euinzim. I had the privilege of knowing her closely and sharing many meaningful engagements with her. She was a warm, gracious and remarkable diplomat whose contribution to Zimbabwe-EU relations will be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to her family, loved ones, colleagues and all. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

KEY LESSON FROM ZAMBIA’S HH 🇿🇲 Consistency and persistence pay. Stay the course. Ignore naysayers and discouragement. Keep fighting. Never give up. The journey demands determination, discipline, resilience, patience and perseverance. His Excellency, Hakainde Hichilema (HH) contested six times before finally winning the presidency in 2021. His journey is a powerful reminder: setbacks are not the end of the struggle. Sometimes, victory simply requires staying the course long enough to see it through. Keep building. ARE WE NOT ASHAMED? DO WE NOT CARE? I am deeply saddened by the disaster in Chivhu. Last week, Kariba. Then the government-backed demolition of homes and buildings belonging to innocent citizens. Almost every week, Zimbabweans are confronted by preventable tragedy and suffering. These are not statistics. These are our people. Our families. Our citizens. To those at the political helm: Does this not concern you? Where is the urgency?
Where is the accountability?
Where is the leadership?
Where is the compassion for We, the Citizens? We cannot normalise suffering. We cannot look away. Zimbabwe deserves leadership that puts the lives, dignity and welfare of its citizens first. WE, THE CITIZENS, MUST GOVERN!

THE BEAUTY OF UNITY… “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
Psalm 133:1 There is a profound lesson in the story of King David. He understood that a nation divided cannot fully realise its God-given potential. By bringing the twelve tribes of Israel together and establishing Jerusalem as the nation’s capital, he helped forge a stronger sense of national identity and common purpose. This wisdom, from the holy book reminds us that unity is more than the absence of division. It is the foundation upon which nations build peace, prosperity, strength and lasting progress. Unity does not mean that we think alike, agree on everything, or erase our differences. It means that we recognise what binds us together is greater than what separates us. It requires humility over pride, dialogue over arrogance, forgiveness over resentment, and the national interest over personal interests or ambition. The precious oil flowing down Aaron’s beard is a powerful symbol of God’s blessing and anointing. It reminds us that there is something sacred about people choosing to live, work and build together in harmony. Our families need unity.
Our communities need unity.
Our churches need unity.
Our nation needs unity. As leaders, our responsibility is not to deepen divisions but to build bridges; not to create enemies but to unite citizens; not to serve ourselves but to serve the common good. The future of our nation cannot be built by one person, one party, one tribe or one generation alone. It will be built by citizens who choose to stand together, work together and believe together in the possibility of a better tomorrow. May we therefore choose unity over division, reconciliation over resentment, service over self-interest, and country over personal ambition. United, we can heal.
United, we can rebuild.
United, we can renew our nation.
