Bringing my 12-year-old C++/OpenGL visualization of the increase in atmospheric CO2 levels to the web, allowing you to see a 23-year history of this constant growth. Also adding more layers: CH4, CO, and temperature.

This visualization is more emotional than scientific, and what I always liked about it is seeing how the planet "breathes," with the waves of CO2 moving from north to south as the seasons change.

Big news for cosmos.gl — the core layout and rendering library behind cosmograph.app — it is going completely open source (MIT) and joining the OpenJS Foundation @openjsf ✨
I never thought that this small experimental library could grow to be among such titans of high-performance visualization tools as deck.gl and kepler.gl. It's a real honor!
