Props, slots and events, read from your component's types. No extra setup.
first version shipped in 0.20 for vue, nuxt and quasar. the video is 0.21 (nov 18): event docs, slot props, and svelte, solid and react too.

📦 1000 variants in one story. This book built to 13.3 MB. Now 4.9.
The highlighter imported from the shiki barrel, so every grammar and theme shipped. 9,957 KB → 1,343 KB for the two languages the source pane uses.
Still @histoire_dev's design underneath — same Story and Variant API, same config. @Akryum built the thing I forked. This didn't add anything; it stopped carrying what was never needed.
🧩 Back in August I said 0.2 was where poveste started diverging from histoire.
This is the divergence. A Quasar component, in a story, rendering. That request has been open upstream since 2022.
Real q-btn — and the label control is reading the prop off the component.
The bit that cost me a day: Quasar boot files don't run inside a story, so an app extension's components are just absent. Build stays green, nothing errors, nothing renders.
setupQuasar({ boot }) has to name them. A BootGreeting story says NO BOOT FILE RAN if you forget.
I was posting about hacking on @histoire_dev's split pane back in 2023, and it's still @Akryum's work under all of this — same Story and Variant API, same config file.
Quasar is the part poveste adds. Thanks @quasarframework.

🐛 Your Svelte controls were lying to you.
histoire moved story state between instances with `$capture_state` — a dev-only compiler internal Svelte 5 removed. A control wrote to a copy your component never read. It looked like it worked.
poveste 0.5 owns the state now.
⚡ Also shipped this week, in 0.3:
@vite_js 8 — poveste's own build runs on Rolldown, so Vite 8 is a hard floor. That sets the rest: Nuxt 4.5, Svelte 5.
🎨 And the UI moved to @tailwindcss v4.
📦 0.3 → 0.5, if you're upgrading.
Half of it is me fixing what I'd just shipped. 😅

Five days ago I said poveste was "essentially histoire — just the beginning."
0.2 is where it starts diverging: a customizable layout, real CSS isolation between the app and your stories, and a preview color scheme independent of the book.
The layout part has history.
I gave up on this Split Pane in Nov 2023. Took a fork and two years and nine months — but it moves now.

Round 4: The previous idea failed 😞. Should find out another idea on how to improve @histoire_dev Split Pane
Round 1, for completeness. Turns out the journey just needed a different repo. 🙂

📖 @histoire_dev inspired me to build poveste.
For now, it's essentially histoire — the same fast, beautiful component stories on Vite, for Vue, Svelte & Nuxt — just the beginning.
poveste.dev — see you soon 👋
