There are people citing the french revolution in relation to what's going on in france but if Macron had 1/10th of the will to crush the protesters that Robespierre did the Sansculottes sludge they'd have ended in 2 days
Porco Rosso is an Anarch in the sense that Ernst Junger talks about.
He's not "anti-fascist" he just doesn't want to be tied down by the fascist party.

One of the most underrated institutional facts about British Columbia is that its cities are statutory creations of the provincial government.
If desired, the Premier can amend the Vancouver Charter to expand, reduce, modify, or even abolish the powers of the municipal government, including those of the school and park boards.
The decisions and bylaws passed by the city can be made subject to provincial approval.
Im going to take a break from situation monitoring until tomorrow.
Too much is happening to keep track of.

"We overcame, in a single year, a problem a hundred times more severe, without having the resources at France’s disposal."

When I was 19 I took an amazing university course on French philosophy in the 1960s. We watched Godard and Truffault in class, studied Hegel as received through Kojeve, Sartre, Frantz Fanon, Louis Althusser.
Even then, as a progressive, I was the one guy in my class who instinctually hated May ‘68.
I hated the selfishness of the movement, the fact that the wealthiest generation in human history up to that point wished to burn down the society of their mothers and fathers and grandparents for no reason other than the fact that they were bored and felt “alienated” by mass consumerism. French boomers ended up being probably one of the luckiest and wealthiest generations in history and had they had their way in the streets back in May ‘68 they would have burned it all down in favour of a Maoist-Pol Pot style mentally ill communist dictatorship.
It’s so funny, everybody in my class got starry eyed and wistful talking about May ‘68, basically wishing that we could have a version of May ‘68 for our generation. They felt left out and jealous. Yet I looked at the students and socialists bringing France to a total standstill for fundamentally no real reason at all and I just instinctually hated it to my guts because I saw the possibility of civil war.
I was the only one in class to speak in favour of De Gaulle. I asked how the “Revolution” would have helped the French working class and nobody could answer me.
Of course, he's leaving France for the Gulf states and has done nothing to initiate the kind of response needed to restore order and protect the public.
The speech he gave is nothing more than empty words.

In Canada, you can randomly kill a CBC journalist, and get out of prison to do more crime in just 1.5 years.
This is bullshit. Our criminal justice system is completely broken.
The Liberals who broke it aren’t going to fix it.

Damn if only there was a guy who had a button to stop the riots. I’m sure if there was, then great value would come from that guy pressing the Stop Riots button instead of posting on Twitter.
I wish that guy existed!
