Can prehabilitation improve outcomes after surgery in older adults?
This meta-analysis of 16 studies found combined exercise, nutritional, and psychological prehabilitation (before abdominal surgery):
- Reduced the risk of severe complications (by 44%)
- Decreased length of hospital stay (by 1 day)
- Improved functional capacity (6-minute walk test)
