BELFAST INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORE WILL CONTINUE TO SELL SALLY ROONEY BOOKS. 🇵🇸
Belfast Independent Bookstore "No Alibi's" have said that they will continue to sell books by Irish author Sally Rooney (whose books have been withdrawn from shops in Britain due to her support for Palestine Action).
The owner of No Alibi's David Torrens said: "As long as we can continue to source and distribute Sally's books, then we will continue to sell them".
* Please support this Independent Bookstore & also Sally Rooney ****

several independent bookshops in the North of Ireland including No Alibis in Belfast and Bridge Books (@BridgeBooksDro1) are continuing to source and sell Sally Rooney’s books because they stand on the right side of history and not with the regressive, authoritarian laws and legislation of the British state
they are able to do this because the North has dual access to both UK and EU markets (thanks Brexit) and can order books through Irish distributors (Argosy etc) meaning that they are technically operating outside UK jurisdiction (any revenue made off Sally’s books in this case would be Irish revenue / sales)
so hypothetically, if there was an owner of an independent bookshop in Britain who wants to put two fingers up to the British government and this ridiculous law, you could do what the bookshops here are doing and source Sally’s books through those same Irish distributors…
just a thought…
and sure if you’d like to tag your local bookshop below / share this post, and if they want or need advice or more clarity about this… I know a guy, that’s all I’m saying

So many evil people in this world and we had to lose a pure heart like Dolly Parton. Devastating day for humanity.

Patrick Radden Keefe, in his 2017 Profile of Anthony Bourdain, was—unknowingly—capturing a portrait of the chef near the end of his life. A little more than a year later, Bourdain was dead, at 61. On the page, however, he remains as vivid as ever. Read the Profile: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/cl…

My thoughts are with Lyra McKee’s family, Sara and all who loved her. Today’s verdicts will be deeply painful.
We must continue to pursue truth, accountability and justice for Lyra.

I've written a book, building on years of research at Lough Neagh.
At its core, Troubled Waters tells a story about place - the "cradle of our human existence on this land", as Bernadette McAliskey puts it in the book's foreword.
