What a day. Launch of the missing pieces of Rembrandt’s Nightwatch with the help of neural networks. Based on the #ai work by @erdmann. Here's #culturalai for you #rijksmuseum nytimes.com/2021/06/23/arts/…
I designed a sequence of three artificial neural networks to make a computer reconstruction of the missing parts of the Night Watch from a small copy that was made before it was cut down.
The result is now hanging around the painting for the next three months @rijksmuseum!
Sections of Rembrandt’s painting “The Night Watch” were cut off in the 18th century and lost. Now, new technology lets viewers imagine how the original work might have looked. nyti.ms/35Mb3VW
🤯This is incredible! Thanks @MindsEyeCCF!
We were so impressed by @erdmann's keynote! We wanted to share some take aways with you via this awesome drawing by @MindsEyeCCF!

@pycon is really good about posting all videos shortly after the conference: youtube.com/c/PyConUS/videos
I'll give an overview of the many components needed to capture, process, and assemble a 925 000 px × 775 000 px (5 µm res.) photo of Rembrandt's Night Watch at the @rijksmuseum. Afterward I'll be available to answer questions on the live Q&A Zoom session.

Me being blown away during the keynote at @pycon. The level of skill being deployed to conserve "The Nightwatch" is wild.
