Excited to announce I've officially joined Equal Ventures!
The move couldn't have been any more emblematic of venture in the serendipitous nature of joining this hard-working and incredibly thought provoking team. I initially met @Rick_Zullo years ago during a shared portfolio company board meeting and over the course of many more quarters realized a shared philosophy perhaps best summed up in his own words - "are you winning or are you whining?"
The shared sense of an innate desire to compete and win in areas of domain expertise was something that I still find aspirational. That is only furthered by the team's humility and ever-present desire to continually learn and be the first call for founders.
Incredibly lucky to now be operating in the same sphere as @zchelseaz , @AliKAfridi , @achadroff, and Sophia Nguyen.
Already raring to go - if you're transforming legacy institutions, hit me up!

Is seed venture evolving or ending? EMC hosted a spirited debate on what defines the next generation of winning seed firms. Themes that resonated:
- Smaller funds, deeper partnerships

Learn everything you've ever wanted to know about the employee benefits market, AI and software opportunities in insurance, and kickstarting a vertical SaaS marketplace
Episode #98: Inside the $2 Trillion Employee Benefits Market
Ryan Sachtjen is the Co-founder and CEO of Threeflow, building software for employee benefits brokers and insurance carriers.
We do a deep dive into the nearly $2 trillion dollar employee benefits market, including structural issues that actually give the smallest companies the most leverage.
We also talk insurance more broadly, AI opportunities in insurance, lessons from kickstarting a marketplace doing nearly $3B in volume, and when his wife got cancer two months after closing Threeflow's seed round, and how his co-founders adjusted to support him.
Thanks to @boltdotnew for supporting this episode + to @thejoefloyd and @Rick_Zullo for introducing me to Ryan and help brainstorming topics!
