Men brought guns inside the Michigan statehouse to protest pandemic lockdowns (but really to frighten and intimidate lawmakers) and no one shot them. They weren’t even arrested.
My dad didn't smoke, drink, dip, while working out almost daily and was not overweight - he was still diagnosed with Stage 4, incurable, prostate cancer at 55 and died at 59. Great plan bud.
I don't know who my mom is voting for because she refuses to engage with me about it, although I have asked respectfully on multiple occasions. My dad is no longer with us, and I can only imagine that he would never, could never, vote for Trump, and he was someone I could...

If you are someone grieving your parent's vote, my parents would like to hold space for you. If you are a prayer person they will pray for you. But they will also simply hold your name close if that is your preference. We are going to hang up each name I receive in their house.
always talk to about anything. I miss him so much in these seasons. But the way this post made me instantly tear up and feel so overwhelmed with both sadness and gratitude for these lovely people. Thank you @HollyStallcup and Holly's parents. ❤️
I'm old enough to remember how it was Hilary's (taken out of context, and definitely NOT about every single Republican or Trump supporter) "basket of deplorables" quote that was just so terrible and unacceptable that it forced people to vote for Trump.

"She is some sick bastard, that Hillary Clinton. What a sick son of a bitch. The whole fucking party. A bunch of degenerates. Lowlives, Jew-haters, and lowlives. Every one of 'em. Every one of 'em."

Mike Braun disrespected every teacher tonight. But also every fire fighter, police officer, sanitation worker, parks employee, and letter carrier in Indiana.
Elected office is a form of public service, but Braun thinks it’s the only one.

@mccormickforgov went after @braun4indiana over his public service comment. He said her public service was only 4 years. McCormick said she was a teacher and he was saying teachers weren't public servants

Hear that, Hoosier Democrats? It's a dead heat.
If we all vote, we will win.
@HamCoDemsIN
I'm told by very reliable sources that there is polling (Non-Democratic) out there showing the race for Governor between @braun4indiana & @mccormickforgov is a statistical dead heat. The same goes for @AGToddRokita & @TheDestinyWells. And it was done by a reliable pollster.
Terrifying, but true. This specifically, and the whole thread.

The second thing I learned is that the constitution/law can only protect you if all parties agree to adhere to it.
All you need to end a democracy is a leader willing to suspend or end the Constitution and a supporting cast large enough to allow him to do it.
Republicans have both.
Is this really the world they envision? The world they want us all to live in? Shotguns and rifles for toddlers?! How is it possible we can’t even agree that toddlers should not have guns.

how they gonna suppress the vote of these white kids though?
that's the question.
you can gerrymander out the Black vote, the poor vote, but not the white wealthy youth vote.
stay tuned...

Click through and scroll back to read this whole, important, thread, but this jumped out at me: we cannot leave it to grieving families and child survivors to rally the combined political will that could lead to real change. That is far too heavy a burden for them to carry.

So I will speak out on this. And you can too. Don’t be afraid. It’s ok to break “rank & file.” Let’s not leave it to grieving parents & child survivors to do the work of ending this American terror. I pray evangelicals are not remembered as people who loved their weapons… 9/10
It’s just exactly this.

This is infuriating. Elections have dire consequences. This Council member won her seat by just 35 votes in an election where Democratic turnout dropped at least 10K votes in St Joe Co and overall turnout was an abysmal 37%.
I have learned so so much here. I have followed and read and learned from the most amazing people. Most have no idea the impact they have had on me. My values never changed, but in many ways I am a completely different person than I was when I first joined. I'm grateful.

Feeling angsty about the election this morning. Here’s what to do: Ignore the polls, vote early - if you can, text everyone you can to make sure they vote!! Be the friend who people expect to get a text from to remind and encourage them to vote.
I’ve been that person since 2016 and all of my friends tell me they appreciate it so much. Yesterday a new friend who moved here from CA texted to ask me about early voting and ballot resources. Your friends want & need *you* to be that person for them! #GOTV2022
And look! Today she texted to say she’d voted! And charged her car at the same time!! Way to go #SouthBend!!
