Hamilton county firefighters endorsing @jdford4congress over an incumbent is a big deal.
Homeland Security touts ICE officers as the “peacemakers” of Jesus? Hmm. @MatthiasBeier has bold insights on religion and psychology + culture and politics.
Opinion: Two people died in ICE custody at Indiana's notorious Miami Correctional Facility. The government calls this peacemaking. indystar.com/story/opinion/c…
“Unborn Life” is literally an oxymoron and Indiana’s abortion ban was a political act. Instead, Indiana legislators should focus efforts on needs of our real children and their mothers.
Opinion: Indiana's abortion ban exempts IVF, undermining its claim that protecting unborn life is a compelling government interest. indystar.com/story/opinion/c…

96% of people ICE arrested in July did not have a prior violent criminal conviction. These arrests aren’t about safety. They’re about racial profiling. I submitted a Congressional Inquiry into ICE’s presence in Indy and refuse to fund ICE as they terrorize our communities.

A federal judge blocked the U.S. Postal Service Friday from enforcing new mail ballot rules for the November election. Indiana was one of 12 states that went to court to defend them.

So this is what it looks like when ICE hunts neighbors in your community. Your church keeps parishioners safe by helping them lock down. Events get cancelled. Restaurants close. Community is impossible when some neighbors are not safe.
Archbishop Thompson granted a temporary dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass for those who reasonably fear detention, family separation or intimidation due to increased immigration enforcement, in effect through Sept. 30. Read the full decree: ow.ly/vqkz50ZJ3zu
Psychoanalyst Dr @MatthiasBeier reflects on JD Vance interview. Vance characterizes God as the supernatural manager of history, bullets, elections, and enemies. What does this reveal about JD Vance himself? ⬇️

I’m convinced that this pearl-clutching outrage (popularized by Micah Beckwith at my library years ago) is just a shtick to gin up conservatives. Because there’s a simple solution to your “problem” - If you don’t like it, don’t read it.
Funny they didn’t mention the only believable “win” they scored from the soggy tent… It looks like @HeritageIndiana and @GregoryKBovino pocketed $6,500 from 130 people. 🙄

I hope this event is full of waving American flags, with patriots marching to oppose the neo-fascists.
Maybe singing God Bless America and filled with lots of different people who look like our great nation.

👀Fishers, Indiana installed Flock cameras three years ago and now has 47 active cameras, according to @eyesoffindiana.

Fishers’ Mayor Fadness ignores citizens’ pleas to denounce rally targeting immigrant community. His silence feeds Greg Bovino’s fire. Bovino: “Everything starts with a spark…This is a very important step, this mass deportation rally (in Fishers)… Bring this mainstream, bring it to everyday Americans and light that fire.”

I’m obnoxious? Huh. This whole time, I thought I was delightful.🤷🏻♀️
FYI - When @FishersIN touts community survey results, they always include "Fair" responses as positive. This misrepresents some results. For example, although most ranked availability of affordable housing as "Poor," City of Fishers can say that residents rank it positively.
The results speak for themselves.
#2 Best Place to Live in America. Top 5 safest city in the nation. And 99% of residents rate Fishers’ quality of life positively.
We’re proud of the recognition, and even prouder to call Fishers home.
Here in Fishers, community members ALWAYS come together and push back against hate. We keep showing up to support all of our neighbors, kids, public schools, library books, and freedom of speech & religion.
A group in favor of mass deportation is planning a rally headlined by a former Trump official in Fishers, and some community members are pushing back. indystar.com/story/news/loca…
Fishers Mayor Fadness repeatedly states the obvious: he has no choice, the city cannot stop the mass deportation rally. However, he CAN choose to unequivocally reject the rally’s message and offer compassion & support to the members of our community who feel more vulnerable now. He chooses not to. (Maybe because HE feels vulnerable now, politically speaking.) Thankfully, the community is coming together to support neighbors, with strength and compassion. 🫶

Mike Braun: “I’ve been very clear: discrimination, bigotry will not be tolerated in this state.”
Governor, your lieutenant governor is literally saying Islam is a “demonic death cult” and calling for an unconstitutional ban on the Muslim call to prayer.
You’re tolerating it.
As a State of Indiana Certified Women Business Enterprise for 19 years, it looks to me like some of Gov Braun’s statements are misleading.
1. The state was NOT dedicating an allotment of all state contracts to award to Minority-Women owned businesses. Instead, there was a participation GOAL designated as a percentage of each state contract. A company bidding on a state contract was awarded evaluation points if they met the percentage goal by subcontracting with certified Minority-Women-Veteran owned businesses. If the bidder itself was a MWV business, that didn’t count toward the participation goal. The goals are approx 10-3%. This participation goal encouraged bidders to reach out to certified businesses to subcontract with, oftentimes qualified businesses that would never have a chance to participate in serving a State of Indiana contract otherwise.
2. The certification process for MWV businesses is rigorous and requires annual reporting to the State. A MWV subcontractor must be certified and prove that they are qualified to provide the specific services that they would provide in the subcontract.
3. Indiana law created the Supplier Diversity MWV-Business-Enterprise program decades ago. The Governor cannot just overturn Indiana statute.
Beckwith’s playbook for fame targets @FishersIN specifically. Our city leaders stay silent, welcoming Beckwith to repeatedly cause harm. Silence does not protect Fishers’ Library, Pride, Muslim community, Immigrant community from Beckwith & Co. But the people of Fishers do. 💪
Step one: Say something ridiculous. Step two: Get condemned. Step three: Watch as other Republicans squirm to address the ridiculous statement. indystar.com/story/opinion/c…
Hamilton County is once again the place where extremely harmful and divisive campaigns rise up. This time it is an angry call for mass US deportations, broadcast from our richly diverse community. @HeritageIndiana knows that electeds like Lt Gov Micah Beckwith and Rep Chris Jeter crave this megaphone and attention. Sadly, they are again empowered by our community leaders who stay silent. It is up to *us* to say No, not here.
