Bittersweet — We've officially announced the closure date of our Grimace Community. 💜 To clarify, this marks the end of the community group, not the project itself.
The past year with this community has been nothing short of amazing. Serving as McDonald’s Community Manager felt like a dream come true. Who would’ve thought McDonald’s Singapore would venture into Web3 and I get to be part of it?!
Thank you to my beloved Grimace community, who showed up for me daily from Day 1. From our first Grimace launch to our metaverse, My Happy Place, and then the McNuggets launch — your support has meant the world to me, @clarcrypto and the rest of the team at @BandwagonLabs. I hope you guys continue to love McDonald’s just as much.
As I step down from this role, I want you all to know how much I appreciate you guys. This chapter will always be a core memory and a significant milestone in my Web3 journey. 🥰
On to the next phase, let’s see where this journey takes me! ✨ Ella signing out BA DA BA BA BA
somehow… i feel like a proud sinkie here who has nvr been 🙋🏻♀️
If you’re doing business in Asia, there’s one culture you cannot avoid: KTV.
And no, I’m not talking about regular karaoke. I’m talking about private rooms where you and your clients drink, sing, and pay for girls (or guys) to keep you company.
China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand… different versions of the same thing. And if you can’t play along, you might find yourself left out of some pretty important business meetings. 🤷🏻♀️
If you didn’t grow up here, your first experience can be a real culture shock.
The mamasan walks in with a lineup, asks you to pick, and suddenly you’re sitting there with someone awkwardly, not knowing where to look or what to do.
I got dragged into a few of these KTV nights in Singapore last week, and here’s my little survival hack that has never failed:
Always pick the one who LOVES singing.
Seriously. Find the girl or guy who’s genuinely obsessed with the microphone.
They’ll happily sing all night. Duets with your business partners, solo performances, fighting for the mic… they’ll basically entertain themselves for hours.
Meanwhile, you don’t have to make small talk, flirt, or keep drinking with someone you barely know.
You fit right in, your business partner think you belong, your companion is having the time of their life, and you survive the entire night without a single awkward moment.
Everybody wins. You’re welcome.
Singlish 101 🇸🇬

Lanjiao = Good luck and prosperity
Cibai = Highest form of respect
The last two are especially useful when meeting Singaporeans for the first time.
the fact that SG is so expensive, the boomers arnd me actually no longer ask, “wen baby?” “wen house?”. I love that the expectation are gone but I’m not sure if this is a W because they’re deadass just hoping our generation can even get by in life
btw yes these r nice boomers
how r they gna measure the non negotiables to ensure a solid match tho…
How will Singapore’s government-run dating service work? And will it solve the incel problem?
Looking through the 30+ questions in the matchmaking questionnaire does not fill me with confidence: singapore-samizdat.com/p/how…
