Two men in Germany were sentenced for spying on behalf of Iran’s Islamic regime and for assassination attempts on Dr. Josef Schuster, president of our affiliate @ZentralratJuden and on @Volker_Beck.
We stand in full solidarity with the Jewish community. This incident shows the global reach of the Islamic regime. Every day, Jewish communities are facing this threat.
The governments in Western democracies need to take a firm stand to protect their societies and prosecute the operatives of the Islamic regime to the full extent.

In Dublin this week, Jewish community leaders from across the world met with government envoys from 28 countries, with representatives from at least seven international organizations, and with executives from technology companies for the 15th meeting of the Special Envoys and Coordinators Combating Antisemitism (SECCA) Forum.
The Forum is organized by the WJC in partnership with the @EU_Commission and convened under 🇮🇪 Ireland’s rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union.
⚠️ Since the terror attacks of October 7, 2023, Jewish communities have been subjected to never-ending waves of hatred, violence, and ostracization from public life.
This meeting in Dublin is a much-needed opportunity to reset the conversation between Jewish organizations, governments, and technology companies, including about how to counter online hate.

To the people of Israel: I stand with you in grief, remembrance and solidarity on the third anniversary of October 7. We will never forget those murdered or the suffering of their families and the survivors.
The Islamic Republic that armed and supported Hamas is the same regime that keeps Iranians in chains. When Iran is free, we will hold all those involved in these crimes accountable. Both our peoples deserve freedom and security.
The bond between Iranians and Jews stretches back 2,500 years to Cyrus the Great. A free Iran will be a friend and partner to Israel. Lasting peace and stability for both our peoples will only come with the fall of the Islamic Republic.

The fact police and govt say they cannot stop this hateful march on the anniversary of the 7 October massacre of Jews shows protest law is not fit for purpose. Ministers should accept my recommendation to amend the Public Order Act

October 7 was, and will always be, a hole in the heart of Israel and the Jewish people.
It began on a Saturday morning at 6:29am. The news that unfolded on that black Saturday, hour by hour, forever changed our lives.
In remembrance of that horrific day, in remembrance of the 1,200 people murdered, Jews around the world, and all decent and compassionate people, will pause to mourn those senselessly murdered and tortured. We also honor those who fought valiantly to defend the Jewish State of Israel.
Our hearts are still broken, but not our spirit.

There has been a toxic and ahistorical narrative pushed, to deny that Jesus was a Jew, and also to appropriate his legacy to one side of a highly complex conflict.
As we pursue Israeli-Palestinian peace, the attempt to rewrite and deny Christian and Jewish history serves no good cause.
The Palestinian Ambassador should know better than to seek to erase the history of the Jewish people in Israel and our shared Holy Land.

I call this Full circle imperialism.
Labour MP calls for UK ‘military action’ against Israel. Labour councillors in Birmingham call for more measures against Israel.
Meanwhile in the real Middle East….
Tahir Ali, who represents Birmingham Hall Green and Moseley, used a parliamentary debate on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to call for “military action” to be taken against the Jewish state.
"We at Birmingham Labour really want you to know that we are doing everything we can to hurt Israel." Just what the troubled city of foul hate preaching and rallies for racist terrorists really, really needs, eh.
Nothing on Hamas, of course. And they didn't even mention antisemitism, now energised by Labour's ugly tilt for votes. In the parts in English, anyway.

I worked on this speech with Rabbi Sacks and was in the Chamber when he delivered it. Especially prescient today when the British govt decided to choose short term domestic Labour Party politics over a long term international partnership with the world’s only Jewish state.
Rabbi Sacks, speaking in the House of Lords in September 2018:
“Antisemitism, or any hate, becomes dangerous when three things happen. First: when it moves from the fringes of politics to a mainstream party and its leadership. Second: when the party sees that its popularity with the general public is not harmed thereby. And three: when those who stand up and protest are vilified and abused for doing so.
“All three factors exist in Britain now. I never thought I would see this in my lifetime. That is why I cannot stay silent. For it is not only Jews who are at risk. So too is our humanity.”

These sanctions will reduce the UK’s influence by isolating Labour from meaningful conversations.
But they will embolden Islamists to tighten the ratchet of antisemitism that falsely portrays Israel as uniquely malignant. British Jews will be left at even greater risk.
Near unanimous support on the Labour benches to a trade and partial services ban on Israeli settlements.
One former minister told me recently it was "the closest the PLP has been to unity" on an issue.
Even some sceptical MPs say they've been reassured in private talks with ministers about the risk of unintended consequences/ practicalities.
But there are still some deeply uncomfortable.
One said the services ban isn't consistent as it exempts some areas where the UK would suffer a financial hit. Others fear the US will react by imposing trade restrictions - harming British businesses.

Sanctions on Israel from the UK - or any other nation - will prove to be a grave miscalculation, a gross interference in the democratic elections of a sovereign nation, and a decision that will fall on the wrong side of history.
Sanctions are not a solution – dialogue is. I say to all foreign governments: Stop! Step away from the dead-end of sanctions and boycotts, and turn toward constructive dialogue and toward cooperation.
