#Communication looks like this sometimes.Thoughts, emotions, movement. Occasionally we use too much volume or excess speed that we get entangled and end up tripping. See if you can slow down, #pause, breathe, listen to yourself 1st. What is your #intention with the next sentence?

As engineers, we often overlook #softskills because it isn't coding. I can tell you that exercising #softskills not only will make your career progress much faster but you will be happier too! Engineers are people too so let's acknowledge that by investing in their humanity!
#softskills are the hardest because they relate to personality traits or behaviors/beliefs learned throughout life. It is crucial to master them to 1. have healthy relationships 2. move forward in your career. Schedule an assessment session and we can talk more about it!

From @tobi’s time on the core team through Shopify’s continued contributions to the framework, this is one hell of a company to have in Rails’ corner. And now that they’ve gone all-in on remote, you really should give these open positions a look, if you’re looking for a new job!

It isn't everyday you see a recommendation like this in a framework documentation. Well done @stimulusreflex

A great thread detailing some great insights from @hillelogram on why sleep and stress level matter a lot more than your language, practice, or tools. Get great sleep!
One of my most controversial software opinions is that your sleep quality and stress level matter far, far more than the languages you use or the practices you follow. Nothing else comes close: not type systems, not TDD, not formal methods, not ANYTHING. Allow me to explain why.

"Don’t decide on the tech you’re gonna use before you understand the project and the customer’s needs. You might wanna use React, but sometimes Squarespace is exactly what they need. Your job is to solve their problems. Not necessarily write code." – Brian P. Hogan

Acceptance tests help you build the right product. Unit tests help you build the product right.

I really like this definition of vulnerability: "Risking failure to have success"

📣 Use emojis in your code! I have no evidence to back this up but I sense you'll be happier while you code. #coding #codinglife
there should never be a dating site for coders, but if it happens, it needs to be named "Off-By-One"

Anyone else ever says to themselves 'Thank goodness for CI!'. I am always happier with a broken test than a broken application. #SoftwareEngineering #continousintegration #SoftwareTesting
I get a bit frustrated when I can't understand why someone decided to do something a specific way. Not saying that it is wrong, but context is so important. Include context in your code even after you've left the project. Support your past teammates even after you've parted ways.
