Under the *Enhancing Climate Resilience of Indias Coastal Communities (ECRICC) Project* 70-litre capacity iceboxes have been distributed to 700 Fishermen Households across four coastal blocks of Puri District to help in enhancing fish preservation, maintain freshness, reduce post-harvest losses, and strengthen their bargaining power for better market prices. 🧊🐠🤝

#WATCH | Puri, Odisha: On Odisha setting up the first crab hatchery under the Enhancing Climate Resilience of India's Coastal Communities (ECRICC) initiative, IFS State Project Director Prem Kumar Jha says, "We plan to establish a hatchery for crabs in Odisha. The eggs of the crabs are imported from Chennai. The proposed scheme involves collaboration with the Fisheries Department, which has provided land for the hatchery. Technical support and financial assistance will be provided under this scheme... It will ensure local demand is met and boost local crab farming. It will be set up in Paradeep, and the products will be supplied across Odisha." (20.09)

A collaborative meeting on “Enhancing Climate Resilience of India’s Coastal Communities (ECRICC)” was held today at 11 AM under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, F&ARD, with officials from the ECRICC project and Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, GoO.
