Another British Fumble! £2bn AI data centre in Essex. 23,000 Nvidia chips, planning permission sorted, Microsoft signed up as the anchor tenant Microsoft has reportedly now walked. Because the grid told them they can't have the power until 2033/34 The government literally named this site in its own AI action plan. They talk about AI growth zones every other week. And we can't get 90MW to a field in Essex for 8 years Same story as the reservoirs. We don't build the boring stuff, so the exciting stuff can't happen here

Tell that, Mr @SecWar, to the families of 44 Polish soldiers who died securing the tough Ghazni province.
Hegseth on Afghanistan: I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters. It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there. Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations. In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."

Over 1100 non-American soldiers from 31 US-allied countries were killed fighting in Afghanistan, approximately 1/3 of the total combat deaths. t.co/x4tGhxJiFG

So we paid for the unfinished Wall twice: once via Government spending on it, and again via tariffs he charged American consumers. Poetry in flushing.
Trump: Mexico did pay for the wall… because I charged them tariffs
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
US importers, not Mexico, pay tariffs on goods from Mexico. The border wall was funded by US federal appropriations, with Mexico contributing nothing. factcheck.org/2025/08/recapp… edition.cnn.com/2023/07/19/pol… factcheck.org/2019/01/trump-…

Billions of pounds lost on a single project because we can’t connect it to the grid for half a decade and have destroyed our capacity to generate reliable electricity.

Ex Canadian Deputy PM Freeland: Europeans, Britain included, must ask if they are ready for Russia to be Europe’s dominant military power and to dictate Europe’s security terms. The answer is an unequivocal no. Then Europe has to support Ukraine until Ukraine wins. 1/

If verified the next question is obvious, did the US just coordinate a military attack with Russia on Ukraine?
Two US officials and a Western official say Trump’s White House instructed Pentagon to slow Ukraine’s Starshield. The sabotage took effect as Russia launched 39 ballistic missiles at Ukraine’s power grid, disrupting defensive drones & military operations.

Musk once declared that “Ukraine’s front line would collapse if he switched Starlink off,” before promising that “Starlink would never cut off its Ukrainian terminals or be used as a bargaining chip.”
Four sources identify Elon Musk as personally proposing Starshield restrictions to Trump, while three officials trace the order to the White House. Ukraine received no warning. Its interceptor drones were disrupted as Russia launched hundreds of drones and dozens of ballistic missiles. Whether this was deliberate sabotage remains unresolved.

The biggest, and stupidest, myth in European politics, particularly popular in France, is that Europe suffers the consequences of "austerity" and "neoliberalism". In the biggest 5 countries in Europe, more than half of the population makes its income from the state, less than half from the private sector. This is what makes the problem of reducing the welfare state so impossible: more than half of the voters are net recipients. No surprise that Italy's budget has not been balanced in 100 years, France's in 50 years (ooh la la, l'austérité!!): -France: 30 million from the state versus 21m private sector workers. State spending is 57% of GDP, taxes more than half the economy. The budget hasn't been balanced in the lifetime of most French (since 1974). - Germany: 35 million adults from the state, versus 34 million from the private sector. 10% of the population is registered as severely disabled. Public spending is over half of GDP. Germany has had a continuous budget deficit since 2019. -Italy: 23 million from the state, versus 20.5 million private-sector workers. Public spending is 51% of GDP. Italy has had a budget deficit every year since 1925, for 100 years. - Spain more people get their income from the state since 2024: 18.21 million from the public sector versus 17.9 million people working in the private sector. Since 2025, Spain also had more government employees than self-employed workers (autónomos) for the first time in history. State spending is at 45%, budget has not been balanced since 2007. - UK: 54% of households now receive more in state benefits than they pay in taxes. State spending is 44.5% of GDP, taxes (40%) are at their highest since 1950, the budget hasn't been balanced since 2001, and 1 in 5 new cars is paid by the government through a bizarre state disability scheme (Motability).

Hola, soy palestino. 1947. La ONU me ofreció un estado. Junto a Israel. Fronteras, independencia, reconocimiento. Me dio autonomía. ¿Democracia? No he tenido elecciones en casi 20 años.

Of all the people who could cast some light on this subject, BBC Newsnight chose…Putin’s former spokesman?
"It's a direct lie... Either Prime Minister Burnham is lying, or the intelligence service of Great Britain." Former Putin spokesperson Sergei Markov says that the PM's claim that Russia interfered in the 2016 Brexit referendum is "absolutely a clear lie." #Newsnight

Here is @NYCMayor Mamdani 13 days after October 7th accusing Israel of genocide. Yet, Israel didn’t launch its counterattack on Hamas until October 27th. How is it possible for Israel to commit genocide a week before it launched its response to the massacre of 1,200 citizens and the kidnapping of 251 of its people? Mamdani’s genocide talking point was part of his hateful rhetoric even before Israel had a chance to defend itself. It has as much credibility now as it did then.
This was Zohran Mamdani only 13 days after October 7. No one could have predicted that this unhinged radical would become New York's next mayor. Israel had not yet launched its ground invasion into Gaza and he was already screaming genocide tnx @mazemoore for that video

Be Indian. Get upset about poop stereotypes. Build an alternative to Twitter. Name it “Tooter.”
Replying to @eliajayaraj
Tooter is an Indian alternative to Twitter (X). American companies like X will fall if Americans continue to mistreat us. India has a huge audience, and if we start using our own apps, we can generate massive revenue for Indian companies.

Young people keep rediscovering socialism as if this time the incentives will differ, but guess what, they won’t. Poland is the best example. Under socialist central planning: bare shelves, queues for whatever the state allocated, food rationing, energy blackouts. Just a generation later, after free market and capitalism replaced socialism: choice and prosperity. Wherever the state replaced prices and profit with plans and commands, severe shortages followed, then coercion to hide them. Soviet Union, Mao’s China, Cambodia, Venezuela, and many others, not a single exception. Remove the link between effort and reward, and the incentive to build, create, and innovate disappears. The Nordics cited by socialists as exceptions are high-tax market economies with private ownership. They got rich on oil and gas first, places that reversed the order did not. Look at Venezuela: huge oil reserves, people starving under socialism. Socialism has always failed because it asks people to act as if self-interest and taking care of your family do not exist. It is against human nature, next time won’t be different.
