If you are going to exterminate 90% of the planets population why not experiment on the herd while you do it. Psychological experiments, physical experiments, disease resiliency, orchestrated civil unrest.. I think what we are seeing is most of these things happening now.

Everyone's worried the market will get flooded now that anyone can make a game.
Most people are consumers to their core. Finishing something still takes hundreds or thousands of hours, and the vast majority will never put that time in no matter how easy the tools make it.
