ALT Call for papers: Reflections on the legacy of the Southern Cone dictatorships. We invite paper proposals for an interdisciplinary panel reflecting on the anniversaries in 2023, 2024, and 2026 of the military coups in Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina. We welcome papers exploring the debates, commemorations, and legacies of these dictatorships across the region, including the experiences of exile and resistance. How are Latin American societies and diasporas grappling with the complex legacy of authoritarianism half a century later? Papers might address issues such as memory, transitional justice, human rights, solidarity in the Global South, exile communities, among other topics.
