He did not challenge the ConCourt’s judgment. He acted in accordance with the judgment, which said the PhalaPhala report (of panel chaired by former CJ Ngcobo) must be referred to Parliament’s impeachment committee “unless and until it is set aside by a court on review” -para139

The SAHRC condemns in the strongest terms a message allegedly posted on social media calling for the gang-rape of Mrs Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, and calls on law enforcement agencies to immediately identify and apprehend the perpetrator so that they face the full force of the law.
Yassass, I have never, in nearly 20 years of journalism and in 16 years of being on this app, seen so much wrong information about a judgment, the Constitutional Court and the law. I am dismayed.
Somewhere in heaven Justice Chaskalson is positively BEAMING FROM EAR TO EAR because another of his former clerks Steven Budlender SC is now an acting judge at the Constitutional Court
Inside the small JSC’s deliberations when they found JP Mbenenge committed gross misconduct. I’d been wondering which commissioners moved the needle and well, let me say I’m not surprised to see the names of Kameshni Pillay, Sesi Baloyi and Tembeka Ngcukaitobi in this report.

Breaking news: South African journalist Micah Reddy is free and safe. He was deported from Djibouti, according to his brother Niall Reddy.
Authorities claim he did not have proper media accreditation. He will return to Johannesburg soon. His fixer, Kooki Mahmoud, is apparently released without charge. More details to follow
Very sad news. I just learnt that Martie Stander, former registrar of the Constitutional Court, passed away a few days ago. Mrs Stander was a lovely, kind person and very dedicated to the court as it was being built in its earlier years. May her memory be a blessing.
My thoughts are with Micah Reddy tonight. May he and Kooki Mahmoud be safe and unharmed and returned home to their loved ones immediately. 🙏

The International Criminal Court is under severe strain, amid attacks from the US and the dismissal of the chief prosecutor. But “the work of the court continues unabated,” its deputy prosecutor Nazhat Shameem Khan tells me. “We do feel pressure, but… the dedication of our staff is extraordinary.”
Does anyone know if R.H. Christie (who wrote our textbook on the law of contract) was related to Renfrew Christie (the historian who was sentenced to 10 years for his role in umkhonto we Sizwe’s bombing of the Koeberg power station)?
