We are in Bronkhorstspruit this morning to engage with traditional leaders, religious and community leaders about the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant water crisis and the City’s response.
The delegation includes iKosi Mkhambi II Mahlangu, the senior traditional leader of the amaNdebele Ndzundza Sokhulumi Traditional Authority .
This engagement forms part of our continued effort to increase awareness about the water alert to communities across Region 7. Our health workers are on the ground in different parts of the region.
Residents are advised not to consume or use water supplied through the plant. The water must only be used to flush the toilet.

Dr Nasiphi Moya is the Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane, the issue of contaminated water that has led to 403 People being sick from consuming water from the Bronkhorstspruit dam, didn’t give her a reason to hide. But instead she took the full blame, as is she is responsible for how others must do their jobs.
This is pure sabotage and political driven agenda. Now pay special attention to the political parties, that are calling for her removal. They knew what they were doing, when they called for this sabotage.
Coalition government that involves monsters from the EFF, DA and. ANC was never a solution.

In past year, since February 2025, we’ve steadily increased the budget allocated for maintenance and upgrades at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant by over R100 million. Rand Water has been appointed as an implementing agent.
Only R1 million had been budgeted for maintenance at BWT plant in the previous years- far short of what was needed to maintain an aging facility that is over 60-years old.
We believe the most sincere apology to residents of Region 7, Bronkhorstspruit and surrounding areas, should focus on remedying the situation.

I am on the ground at Dark City Clinic in Ekangala, Region 7, engaging public health workers and community members as part of our ongoing response to the Bronkhorstspruit water crisis.
Together with senior City management, I am assessing the public health response, overseeing the provision of safe alternative drinking water and ensuring that residents receive the information and support they need.
Our priority remains protecting affected communities, preventing further illness and restoring a safe and reliable water supply.

I am deeply disappointed by the continued attempts by former Executive Mayor Cilliers Brink to exploit the water crisis in Bronkhorstspruit for political advantage, including through misleading claims about cholera.
At a time when residents are understandably concerned about their health and safety, Mr Brink has chosen to amplify fears of another cholera outbreak without adequately explaining the scientific findings available to date.
Let me be absolutely clear: cholera has not been identified as the cause of the gastrointestinal illness outbreak in Bronkhorstspruit.
