Hi, I'm free. Beat up but fine. Police stole my phone. Settlers punched me in the face several times, likely broke @AdeleShoko's wrist and gave @the_andrey_x a concussion. They threatened to shoot us with an assault rifle over and over. Will tell the full story later, but for now, I just want to be clear about what happened. We witnessed two settlers locking a military gate in Umm al-Khair, blocking the only way to more than twenty Palestinian communities: trapping families inside, preventing students from reaching school and workers from their jobs, blocking delivery of food and access to ambulances, etc. It's a crime that the military has this ability at all--but last night, we discovered that random settler terrorists also have the key. We confronted them and began asking questions on camera, and they nearly murdered us for it. When the police finally arrived, they arrested Andrey and me and charged us with assault. The gate is still locked.

Still a banger.
was looking for the picture I took of this back in July when Vaneigem passed but couldn’t find it until now. uncertain the exact provenance of it but I believe it was from a flyer circulated by SI in the late 60s

I would love one day for the opportunity to interview or debate Bret Stephens. He says so much nonsense with so much confidence. The whataboutism is here is pathetic. Is the interior minister of Japan daily bragging about mass murder and ethnic murder and making foreign mothers cry? Is the interior minister of Japan receiving billions of dollars in US military aid? Is the interior minister of Japan's government being investigated by the ICJ for genocide and wanted at the ICC for war crimes? Are we in a war alongside Japan right now? Do US politicians, both GOP and Dem, declare they entered politics to defend Japan or have dreams about Japan? I could keep going...
NYT's Bret Stephens whines that Democrats know "Smotrich and Ben-Gvir" but not "the interior minister of Japan." Their "obsession" with Israel drives him "crazy." (Being politically informed on Israel is now anti-Semitic.)

The bourgeoisie of the whole world, which looks complacently upon the wholesale massacre after the battle, is convulsed by horror at the desecration of brick and mortar! - Karl Marx, The Civil War in France
Jag vill inte längre höra folk säga att det rör sig om ”vanliga” skolprotester. Bilderna och filmerna från Frankrike visar på ren och skär ondska.

Neither Cartier-Bresson, Banksy nor Cold War Steve could have come up with such an image. Absolutely perfect composition and lighting (even the road signs are perfect)! 😍

Protesters in Spain just stopped police from evicting a cancer-stricken 65-year-old woman today. After an investment firm kicked 87-year-old Maricarmen Abascal to the curb last week, tens of thousands came to Madrid's Puerta del Sol to set up an ongoing Occupy-style encampment demanding the government put an end to unjust evictions. Their momentum appears to be growing.
La Policía fue expulsada del intento de desahucio a una mujer de 65 años con cáncer en Navas de Tolosa N°5 cerca de la Puerta del Sol. Ni una Mari Carmen más.

The Madrid Tenant Union-led camp has mobilised the encampment at the Puerta del Sol to block another eviction. Incredible things are happening in Spain
Desde la acampada de Sol impedimos un desahucio en Navas de Tolosa y hemos hecho retroceder a la policía. Somos miles las que no aguantamos más y lo vamos a seguir demostrando. Ni una Maricarmen más.

As an eviction is blocked in Madrid: “To destitute power is to take away its legitimacy, compel it to recognize its arbitrariness ... to turn it into a temporary configuration of things which, like so many others, have to fight and scheme in order to survive.” IC, To Our Friends

The protests in Madrid that started against evictions and the housing crisis are expanding. Many are setting up encampments in places like Puerta Del Sol. This seems to be the start of something big.

Should pay very close attention to this. An occupy-style mobilization but led this time by the new forms of basic class struggle orgs that have arisen in last 10 years. Not an amorphous online mass, but very disciplined tenants union.

Roseanne called a Black woman an ape. Mark Ruffalo criticized the single biggest private donor to the IDF. You’re an idiot.
Y'all were awfully loud—and rightfully so—when Roseanne Barr was tweeting racist shit. Where are you now that @MarkRuffalo is doing the same thing, just to Jews?

“It”. He called a baby “it”.
“That child had a genetic issue. It was not being starved by Israel.” — @VanJones68 with perhaps his most disgusting remark yet. The baby had a genetic issue AND was being starved by Israel AND the starvation exacerbated the condition. Absolutely sickening from somebody who used to know better.

The interviewer cut it short! She did it! We all saw her do it on camera. The New York Post simply isn’t a journalistic outlet. It’s toilet paper. How does anyone justify working there?
DSA Florida House candidate appears to cut interview short when journo fact-checks his Israel genocide claim trib.al/JREuOGu
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Host Glenna Milberg ended the interview, saying “I’m being told we have to wrap.” Candidate Larkin stayed and thanked her. NY Post body confirms this. x.com/i/status/20894… nypost.com/2026/08/17/us-…

i'm sure the ability to fabricate convincing historical footage that eventually drifts across the internet, where it's picked up by people who present them as real, at a time when trust in educational and media institutions is already eroding, will prove to be a net positive
Turns out that Flux 3 is exceptional at generating historical footage... like elementary school students in the '90s predicting how we'll use computers. (the last girl is my favorite!)
