Old man wants to end American democracy

This is how you do it. Country over party🇺🇸
I’m committed to beating Donald Trump. The only vehicle left for me to do that with is the Democratic Party. If that requires me to vote for, speak for, or endorse @KamalaHarris then count me in! 🇺🇸

So this is terrible news — for the reading public and her journalistic colleagues, though not I trust for Chantal. There's no shrewder observer of the political scene, anywhere, and coverage of Canadian politics will be immeasurably poorer for her (fortunately not total) absence.
Some personal news: To give myself some much needed breathing room, I have decided to relinquish my weekly column in The Star. I will be back for special occasions, including the next election campaign. You can also still follow me in all the other usual places.

When I look at this jet stream the word insane comes to mind. It's even more astonishing when you consider it's mid June! This configuration, likely enhanced by climate heating, is fueling a record heat dome so extreme that even experts are astonished!

Somebody simply has to write the ultimate catch-all essay on disruptive, libertarian, private-sector-touting entrepreneurs simply begging and demanding for state intervention at the end of their journeys. (This is the Titan sub company's adviser.)

It seems like there are three different kinds of people out there in the world these days. A world that’s melting down at astonishing speeds. Democracy’s on the brink. Ocean temperatures off the charts. Emissions, still rising. Economies, stagnating. 🧵(1/)

Canada just surpassed 5 million hectares burned this season. That's more than the entire 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2022 seasons combined.
